SOME REVIEWS OF THIS BOOK, FROM GOODREADS: "This is one of the most important books I’ve read, period. It’s short, articulate, and expansive on a singular subject matter — ergodicity, which is really the key ingredient to success in life, marriage, business, family, happiness, health, etc." – Blake Janover, Janover Inc. CEO "To not spend time and money on books that you should not waste resources on, please first read this book. This is a great book for those who quickly want to familiarize themselves with the concept of ergodicity. The author goes to great lengths to explain the ...

Well explained framework for risk analysis
Revisado: 04-27-25
An intuitive framework that helps to dispel common misconceptions with regards to considering risk. A fund and quick read as well. Highly recommend for anyone looking to add a tool for decision making.

Historia
Plenty of experts argue that anyone who wants to develop a skill, play an instrument, or lead their field should start early, focus intensely, and rack up as many hours of deliberate practice as possible. But a closer look at research on the world’s top performers shows that early specialization is the exception, not the rule. David Epstein examined the world’s most successful athletes, artists, musicians, inventors, forecasters and scientists. He discovered that in most fields—especially those that are complex and unpredictable—generalists, not specialists, are primed to excel.

Great Alternative View
Revisado: 12-16-23
The arguments made in this book are extremely compelling and do a great job at making one question what seems to be a logical approach to success. With that said, I believe some of the arguments have inherent bias. I would love a study of underachievers to determine if they generally specialize too early or take a meandering path that puts them behind their peers.

Historia
Bjorn Lomborg argues that many of the elaborate and expensive actions now being considered to stop global warming will cost hundreds of billions of dollars, are often based on emotional rather than strictly scientific assumptions, and may very well have little impact on the world’s temperature for hundreds of years. Rather than starting with the most radical procedures, Lomborg argues that we should first focus our resources on more immediate concerns, such as fighting malaria and HIV/AIDS and assuring and maintaining a safe, fresh water supply....

Historia
In 2017, a routine network television investigation led to a story only whispered about: one of Hollywood’s most powerful producers was a predator, protected by fear, wealth, and a conspiracy of silence. As Farrow drew closer to the truth, shadowy operatives, from high-priced lawyers to elite war-hardened spies, mounted a secret campaign of intimidation, threatening his career, following his every move, and weaponizing an account of abuse in his own family.
