Historia
When a ghost ship is discovered, its crew presumed dead after trying to reach the storm-shrouded island Akina, Navani Kholin must send an expedition to make sure the island hasn't fallen into enemy hands. Knights Radiant who fly too near find their Stormlight suddenly drained, so the voyage must be by sea. Shipowner Rysn Ftori lost the use of her legs but gained the companionship of Chiri-Chiri, a Stormlight-ingesting winged larkin, a species once thought extinct. Now Rysn's pet is ill, and any hope for Chiri-Chiri’s recovery can be found only at the ancestral home of the larkin.

I just don’t like Rysn
Revisado: 01-11-25
She is either complaining or self-deprecating over her past behavior. She is like a witless Shallan and I find her point of view very annoying to read. My least favorite character (perhaps Cosmere-wide). The story itself is ok (nothing amazing) but Rysn’s attitude and personality really brings it down and I’m someone that really liked Kaladin’s slow and depressive chapters, Shallan and Lift are among my favorite characters and I know people hate them so maybe I’m the odd one out 🤷🏻♂️

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Cheesy towards the end but a great journey
Revisado: 01-07-24
The climax is a bit cheesy and a little embarrassing but the journey was very good and "Journey before destination".

Story ok, narration subpar
Revisado: 11-06-23
Mispronouncing Selandra’s name all throughout the book is unforgivable especially when there are other audiobooks where they pronounce it correctly.
Furthermore the tone was so ineffectual and detached that I had to speed it up to 1.7 to make it bearable. First time I was glad an audiobook was short. Please use more inflection in future recordings Miss Subhadra Newton - this is not a recipe or a judicial protocol.
The story is very basic to the point of boring but it is a middle grade novel so I guess that’s the standard there.

Historia
Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Uneven performance and too much sci if mock philosophy
Revisado: 09-15-22
The performance is very uneven with character lines sometimes performed by the same voice as the narration and sometimes by a different voice/actor which is confusing and inconsistent. The story itself is solid but the sci-fi babbling is sometimes too much to take seriously. Also, for lack of a better word, the magic in this work (which it has since some abilities are never explained through science or pseudoscience, like changing the composition of materials inside your body at will or sharing consciousnesses) are somewhat out of place and overpowered.

Historia
Conn may only be a wizard's apprentice, but even he knows it's dangerous to play with fire, especially around magic. His master, Nevery, warns him that it could all blow up in his face. Besides, they have bigger problems to deal with. There is evil afoot in the city of Wellmet, an evil that isn't human.

Just OK, not as good as the 1st book
Revisado: 11-14-20
The story is OK and predictable. I am most annoyed by Conn's lack of character development. The 1st book was better. For some reason the narration really breaks the immersion for me.
