Might be a good pick for a young teen

Some interesting stuff, but the author was obnoxiously British - long winded, vapidly philosophical, and in love with his own digressions (do we not think about how great glass is BeCaUsE wE cAn SeE tHrOuGh IIIIIIITTT???). I don't regret finishing it, but I'm glad it was only 6 hours long. Might be a good book for a 9 - 15 year old.

Competently written, but you can tell it was written in the 1900s. A bit plodding by modern standards, only 3 named female characters that only show up directly for about a page each, a nebulously English setting... Nothing *bad*, strictly speaking, but it takes awhile to get going and I don't know if I'll finish it.

my favorite of the secret projects

This is easily my favorite of BrandoSando's secret Projects (sorry yumi and painter). It has a light tone (for BrandoSando) and I like that it is a standalone.

It might not be the weakest of the series, but it feels like a let down after the previous book and it's story.

Like, the point of making him a brash young idiot was to make his suffering deserved?

The setting is neat and you can tell the author put a lot of thought into things to make an above average litrpg, but most of the characters are difficult to actually like.

Not horrible, but the book was a struggle to finish. The prose was mid, the characters didn't engage me, the premise has been done to death, and the setting was pretty standard.

If dungeon-core reincarnation stories are your thing this will probably be a fun read for you, but overall it's a pretty niche book without much to recommend it.

I believe in the central conceit that art makes people better people, but the complete lack of sources severely undercuts the specific points the authors are trying to make. "Studies say" this, "research shows" that... By making sweeping statements without providing any specific examples it is impossible to critically evaluate those statements. This is especially concerning given the state of modern psychological research and the reproducibility crisis. I want to believe, but my skepticism is winning out in this case.

If that's your thing then give this a listen. If it's not, then you probably won't get much out of this book. Very good narrator though, she always matched the energy of the characters!

Absolutely fascinating at every turn - this is perhaps the first biography I can say that about.
