The Order has one last shot at stealing the wild magic brewing inside me. But I’m not sitting around waiting for them to strike. I’m tracking one of their shadow mages, who holds the key to the other pieces of the powerful meteorite that chose me. It’s mine to carry, and mine to wield. My patron mage granted me a vision. One that compels me to reunite the last two pieces of meteorite and transform into the warrior I was meant to be. In order to do this, I must wake the dead, slay man-eating beasts, and defeat a Blackbriar professor I thought I could trust.

I loved how easy it was to get into the books and basically decided that the characters were my new family lol just kidding I love my family but it really takes a good author to help submerge you into the story like that! Excellent character development and wonderful story.

Awesome!
Revisado: 01-06-22
I have been following the dark world universe and I’ve already read the salt tracker and the Skinwalker series or what is already written of those so I started this one I’ve said that I knew that the other characters probably wouldn’t be in this one as much that quickly found this was Totally easy to sink into after the others. you know how when you read good series, But if you start a new one usually it takes a minute to get into even if it’s by the same author? Obviously there’s a little bit of character cross over but not terribly much yet as this is the first book but I ended up staying up all night reading and listening because I couldn’t stop with this book. If you were on the fence definitely take the plunge!
Also I do suggest starting with a skin walker series and then going to the soul tracker series and then reading this series because I accidentally read them out of order starting with the soul tracker.

was skeptical but it was pretty good
Revisado: 08-26-21
so the entire time I read The reluctant King (well listen to and read) I really thought that Avalon and Mimi should have had different points of view throughout the book or it should have been told from Mimi's point of view just because most books in this genre will probably have girls that would like relatable characters telling the story or at least part of the story. when I started this book and realized that's how she set up the platform for this book I was actually really excited and decided that the second part to the story was way better the way she did it this time rather than the way she wrote the last book. I actually was in captured by Jericho and Olivia story. I liked listening to the different points of you and because a man wasn't reading the whole book except for like one chapter the voices sounded a lot better in my opinion. I've pretty much enjoyed this whole series up until now. the story's been good if not a little bit whiny at times and generally that's not a complaint I have but I definitely approve of how she changed the setup for this book. I thought that it made things seem a lot less repetitive because any repeats were told from a different point of view and how somebody else was thinking.

if you can get through the first book..
Revisado: 08-19-21
okay so normally I don't have super strong opinions on how an author decides to present their main characters because generally they have a reason for portraying them the way that they're being portrayed. yes the main character comes off as kind of obnoxious in the first book and a good part of the second book but if you get to the end of the second book I promise you that all of your annoyances will be gone. I believe the character had to be portrayed the way that she is being portrayed now in order to build for the storyline later because if she didn't make the choices she made then the story wouldn't have fallen into place didn't like the author wanted.
I think the author did a good job portraying what a true 16-year-old girl would do in the situation this girl is in. many 16-year-olds would ignore their families advice and go after the prince but there's also a huge turning point however I will not spill out the spoilers. continue reading to the second book and at the end of the second book and you'll see a huge change in the character and the story in it's entirety when she is pretty much forced to grow up. the author did portray the 16 year old is kind of ditzy but honestly they were decisions that most 16-year-olds would make and after going through what she has she definitely turned around and grew up so just keep reading and to all the people who don't want to continue the book because of the main character by the end of the second book I think you will be glad you kept with it. (I have a toddler so this review is made via voice text so I hope it's someone easy to read 😂

make sure to read dark world in order
Revisado: 08-04-21
Every single book and series in this story is amazing, and I definitely recommend it. The entire dark world series is absolutely amazing. I have read every book in the series so far.
Okay so I wanted to start off saying that I accidentally read this entire dark world series out of order because I didn't realize there was an order to be had originally because Amazon didn't make that fact very apparent. I accidentally read the angel trials first because Amazon didn't have it listed as multiple series of the same story. Amazon had them listed as completely different stories so after I realized that there was no way the angel trials was the ending to that book or series I decided to read what all the other ones were about and since I had already read some of her other series like the elementals I knew that one couldn't be a part of it but imagine my surprise when I found out that annika's story was actually in the first vampire series and I completely skipped over it. I thought about just going on to the faerie games since I kind of already knew what the outcome was but decided to go back and read Annika and Jason's story and I definitely didn't regret it.
I've noticed the only bad reviews on Amazon are the ones where people don't understand that the entire story goes together and even though each story is its own independent story if you read from the beginning it makes so much more sense and little things that you may not notice or may confuse people who haven't read it are abundantly clear if you actually read from the beginning.
If you read these books and feel confused or didn't want to give it the best review I urge you to go back and read them in order. Vampire, angel, fairy, then dragon. Of course those aren't the names but those are the species you should be looking for LOL.
Each story has the important information you need to understand why each Queen becomes the queen of cups swords wands or pentacles and why she was chosen.
The stories are all fast-paced and amazing.
If you have social media you probably won't make the mistake of accidentally reading them out of order, but unfortunately a hacker got into my Facebook account a few weeks ago and since I read about a book a day I read very quickly and didn't start this series until after my Facebook page was down and normally I would research a series before starting to read it a little bit but since my account's been hacked I've not bothered to make a new one in hopes I'll get my old one back. I'm leaving this review for people who are looking to read the books but also would like to read them in order. If you normally would prefer to read books about one supernatural species over another you might accidentally make the mistake I made and start with the wrong book but I promise you each story is important and you will love all the characters equally. These books are totally worth what I spent between buying them through Amazon and also audible so that I could read and listen and never have to stop reading just because I had to cook dinner or take care of my toddler.
Definitely take the time to check out the first series about Annika and Jason and go in order if you haven't and if you have then you probably aren't reading this review anyway because you already know what to read next in the series.

after you get used to the narrator
Revisado: 04-10-21
the narrator doesn't really make a huge difference in her voice between characters but if you get past that and just listen to the story she's actually decent telling the story and the story is really good.

Stop reading reviews and just listen NOW
Revisado: 09-18-20
so I read a few reviews before deciding to listen to this book and some of them were not so great.
however the story was absolutely amazing and I ended up staying up half the night just so I didn't have to stop listening to this story.
yes the story is about teenagers and from a teenager's point of view I think these characters definitely we're very mature for their ages especially by the end of the series. The characters learned to work together and put their differences aside eventually becoming friends.
there is never a dull moment in this series and it will keep you went in the whole time. if you expect a book series to have a lot of hot and heated romance this may not be the one for you because that's pretty much the extent of the bad reviews that I saw but if you like action-packed amazing stories with some romance then this is definitely for
definitely one of the best stories I have listened to recently and for just 1 credit you get every book! you could spend your next five credit on a mediocre series or you could have an amazing series for 1
also I wrote this review using voice text with my screaming 2 year old running around in the background and the dogs barking so please ignore all the punctuation errors and whatever else could be wrong with it. my lack of rereading this before publishing did not make anybody worried that I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to a good story because this is definitely a good story I just have my hands very full.

Tarah is an all-star!
Revisado: 09-01-20
Tarah Benner is the author that got me into all things dystopian. I havr read every series that she's put out except for the rest of this one, and the newest one due to my lack of reading time having a two-year-old now. As soon as the audiobooks come out I will be reading every single one. The way she builds characters in her overall stories is absolutely amazing.
Maggie's character is extremely relatable as she worked a job in the newspaper, and she has the General Life that most women would be able to relate to in some way. This story, as with all her other stories, take relatable characters and bring out their best qualities and a truly badass way. Maggie has her heart and soul in writing but is also a barista to help pay the bills with her quirky BFF.
Magnolia AKA Maggie gets the chance of a lifetime when she's offered a job to write for the new space colony. She always is able to find an important story so naturally things don't change in space.
Jonah is an ex-army Soldier now Gym trainer in Los Angeles for the rich fake women of the area. His heart is still in combat oh, but he can't go back to the regular army. When somebody from the past shows up and gives him the chance of a lifetime training combat in space he surely couldn't say no.
As with every single one of Tarah Benner stories thus far, it's very easy to see these characters as real people and people you would want to be real friends with. A chance to go on to the elderon sounds amazing, but is it really what it's made out to be? Follow the clues with Maggie and find out what's really going on!
If you've not read this book or any of her other series I definitely can say that you are missing out. The Fringe is an exciting Adventure where you get a taste of living inside a compound. The defectors series is great for anybody who likes stories about people getting infected with zombie like viruses and government Personnel chipping and tracking what's left of the population. Also don't forget Lark and her adventures escaping a prison where everyone is out for themselves and the guards don't bother to let them know the world around them is completely gone. (Lark is one of my favorites)
Anyway if you've not gotten anything else from this review, go now and read ALL of her stories. You will not regret it.

I'm Lexie Delaney, and I'm a necromancer. Which means, I can see the dead, talk to them, affect them. Not as fun as it sounds. Especially since the Veil closed and the dead have been stuck here. Things in town are getting tense. School is starting, and I'm already tired of our plan to keep our relationships quiet. Bodies keep showing up and no one has a clue as to why.
