Historia
Richard Papen had never been to New England before his 19th year. Then he arrived at Hampeden College and quickly became seduced by the sweet, dark rhythms of campus life—in particular by an elite group of five students, Greek scholars, worldly, self-assured, and at first glance, highly unapproachable. Yet as Richard was accepted and drawn into their inner circle, he learned a terrifying secret that bound them to one another...a secret about an incident in the woods in the dead of night where an ancient rite was brough to brutal life...and lead to a gruesome death.

Shocked how much I enjoyed this book!
Revisado: 10-13-21
This book was really outside the realm of books I usually read but I do love Jane Eyre and Rebecca so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was thoroughly fascinating and the many twists and turns were never expected! I have to say the ending left some questions unanswered but it was truly a great twist!

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Not original at all
Revisado: 09-08-21
I was really excited for this as I heard great reviews but quickly realized it was the same as EVERY TEEN FANTASY STORY EVER. When your main character's ONLY personality trate is "stubborn", that's not a well written character. The world she created was good and a few intriging plot twists but it was so hard to finish due to lack of character development.

Took me months to finish
Revisado: 09-08-21
I was so determined to love this book as I love studying the Great Hunger, however the lack of depth any of the characters had made it so hard to get through. The plot was some what intriguing but there really was nothing super interesting about this book besides when/where it takes place.

If you love reading the Illiad, The Aenied, or other ancient stories, you will fall in love with this title. She does "apologize" for not being able to fit Dido in, hopefully we'll get another one from her soon. 10/10 recommend.
