Historia
Separated by 10 years, 3,000 miles, and the unrelenting stresses of adulthood, best friends Janet and Serena plan a 40th birthday girls’ trip to reconnect. But after a massive crash, they’re the only survivors to wash ashore on an uncharted Caribbean Island. Armed with only the clothes on their backs and zero survival skills, they fight to overcome hunger, thirst, deadly wildlife—and most terrifyingly—decades of accrued resentment. Can they find their way home, or will they kill each other first?

At first didn't feel like a story that'll keep my attention but hey - those voice actors made it all great, I really enjoyed listening through!

Historia
The Bobiverse is a different place in the aftermath of the Starfleet War, and the days of the Bobs gathering in one big happy moot are far behind. There’s anti-Bob sentiment on multiple planets, the Skippies playing with an AI time bomb, and multiple Bobs just wanting to get away from it all. But it all pales compared to what Icarus and Daedalus discover on their 26,000-year journey to the center of the galaxy.

More of the same
Revisado: 11-10-24
If you listened to the previous books you'll likely get this one too but I personally find them tedious and monotonous since book 3 so now I'm gone through 3 books where not much interests me and I don't get to care because the plot seems to be just more of the same. Hey Bob! Yes Bob! Awwwwkwaaard! Please Bob! But I invented super flying! Fatnastic Bob but there is a huge problem! Oh no Bob, give me - I'll invent something to solve it. But you can't do that Bob! Haha, I just did Bob! Next problem Bob? Oh no Bob - I'll have to invent super duper flying now, but that's for the next book! Ok Bob, I love me, Bob are the best. Awwwkwaaard. Yes Bob

Historia
An original novella set in season three of The Orville—straight from the pen of Seth MacFarlane, creator of the beloved sci-fi TV show! When Captain Ed Mercer and the crew of the U.S.S. Orville come face-to-face with one of humanity's most vile ideologies, they must solve the moral conundrum of who to hold accountable for evil deeds real… and imagined. Occurring just after episode 308, this is the Orville like you've never seen it before.

Couldn't push past chapter 1
Revisado: 12-18-23
I'm a big fan of the Orville but listening to this was a real punch in the guts. The plot felt cheap and lazy and the reader was completely butchering the plentiful german words that were sprinkled everywhere for obviously no reason ... I pushed through the Intro and Chapter 1 but it's a truly awful audiobook.

Historia
Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

Listening to this book has been such a trip!
Revisado: 02-11-23
I listened to a few from Bill Bryson, but this one is definitely the best one so far. It's a book about literally *everything* and the human approach to so many different subjects, filled with personal stories and anecdotes makes it really a joy to listen. Highly recommended

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

The Phantom Menace of the Bob trilogy
Revisado: 02-02-21
This is definitely a book which is part of the Bob universe but if you liked the first three you might be in for a surprise. With teenage trips floating down a river, going undercover to spy on secret foreign organizations, and much more, the book takes a hard turn on the story line so far.

Historia
Language defines us as a species, placing humans head and shoulders above even the most proficient animal communicators. But it also beguiles us with its endless mysteries, allowing us to ponder why different languages emerged, why there isn't simply a single language, how languages change over time and whether that's good or bad, and how languages die out and become extinct.

The author is just an awful person
Revisado: 04-21-15
Takes hours to bitch about other people who work in the same area as he does. Endless comments about what kind of person this of that researcher is or what you should think about one thing or another. I hope to never meet this guy in person. A pity since the course subject is extremely interesting.

Historia
There have been many books - on a large and small scale - about Steve Jobs, one of the most famous CEOs in history. But this book is different from all the others. Becoming Steve Jobs takes on and breaks down the existing myth and stereotypes about Steve Jobs. The conventional, one-dimensional view of Jobs is that he was half genius, half jerk from youth, an irascible and selfish leader who slighted friends and family alike.

A rather plain one-sided rehash of Steve Jobs
Revisado: 04-14-15
What disappointed you about Becoming Steve Jobs?
The book is rather plain, it just goes on and on without any noticeable high points. The characters around Steve Jobs are one-dimensional and uninteresting. After finishing the book it felt like a paid write-up to improve Jobs' image.
Would you ever listen to anything by Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli again?
Probably not

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Interesting idea
Revisado: 12-16-14
Would you try another book from Andy Weir and/or R. C. Bray?
Not really, the write-up wasn't really engaging
Has The Martian turned you off from other books in this genre?
Nope - I think it's much the writing style that wasn't all that good
Do you think The Martian needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Maybe not a follow-up book but it could easily be abbreviated to a short story.

Historia
This classic tale is a fantastical fable of two dear friends - one of whom goes astray and is literally lost to the north woods, while the other undertakes an epic journey to rescue him. This charming, strange, and wonderful story is a timeless allegory about growing up and the challenges of staying true to one's self, and it served as the wintry inspiration for the blockbuster hit Frozen.

Not satisfied with the reader
Revisado: 12-16-14
What made the experience of listening to The Snow Queen the most enjoyable?
I understand this performance was handed out as a free gift but the reader could still have researched quickly how to pronounce the names in the story. Especially annoying was that she decided to read Kai's name as "K" - much like if she'd read any of Franz Kafka's stories where he'd call himself by his initial ... Depressing performance of an otherwise brilliant story
