Historia
Aiden Valentine has a secret: he’s fallen out of love with love. And as the host of Baltimore’s romance hotline, that’s a bit of a problem. But when a young girl calls in to the station asking for dating advice for her mom, the interview goes viral, thrusting Aiden and Heartstrings into the limelight. Lucie Stone thought she was doing just fine. She has a good job; an incredible family; and a smart, slightly devious kid. But when all of Baltimore is suddenly scrutinizing her love life—or lack thereof—she begins to question if she’s as happy as she believed.

Cute story with good narrators
Revisado: 03-08-25
Lucy's daughter calls into a radio station to find love. Lucy finds Aiden a grumpy radio host looking for a new purpose in his life. It's a cute grumpy/sunshine story. It's not as good as Love Light Farms but still good if you enjoy the author.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Revisado: 11-13-22
I'm glad Jennette McCurdy wrote this book. I didn't know who she was before she started doing press for her book. I was raised by an abusive mother and sometimes it helps me feel less alone know other people have similar experiences. I listened to the Audiobook.
This book is going to help a lot of people feel seen and to recognize their toxic relationships with food or parents or employment or themselves. At the very least empathy and compassion for people who struggle in silence.

Historia
For the last several years, Penn and Kim Holderness of The Holderness Family have done the hard maintenance and the research to learn how to fight better. With the help of their marriage coach Dr. Christopher Edmonston, they break down their biggest (and in some cases, funniest) fights. How did a question about chicken wings turn into a bra fight (no, not a bar fight; a bra fight)? How did a roll of toilet paper lead to tears, resentment, and a stint in the guest bedroom?

I loved listening to this book. Their side notes and Kim sometimes crying when recounting hard memories made both of the authors feel authentic. I'm glad I listened.

Historia
Neil Gaiman has long been inspired by ancient mythology in creating the fantastical realms of his fiction. Now he turns his attention back to the source, presenting a bravura rendition of the great northern tales. In Norse Mythology, Gaiman fashions primeval stories into a novelistic arc that begins with the genesis of the legendary nine worlds; delves into the exploits of the deities, dwarves, and giants; and culminates in Ragnarok, the twilight of the gods and the rebirth of a new time and people.

Historia
In Accidental Saints, New York Times best-selling author Nadia Bolz-Weber invites readers into a surprising encounter with what she calls "a religious but not-so-spiritual life." Tattooed, angry and profane, this former standup comic turned pastor stubbornly, sometimes hilariously, resists the God she feels called to serve. But God keeps showing up in the least likely of people - a church-loving agnostic, a drag queen, a felonious Bishop and a gun-toting member of the NRA.

Forgiveness, and grace
Revisado: 02-19-22
This book is sharing the beautiful parts of being a broken Christian. We are forgiven even for this sin. It offers stories of grace and love in dark places and suggests that being a Christian is a practice.
