Historia
A house demolition provides an unpleasant surprise for Minneapolis - the bodies of two girls, wrapped in plastic. It looks like they've been there a long time. Lucas Davenport knows exactly how long.In 1985, Davenport was a young cop with a reputation for recklessness, and the girls' disappearance was a big deal. His bosses ultimately declared the case closed, but he never agreed with that. Now that he has a chance to investigate it all over again, one thing is becoming increasingly clear: It wasn't just the bodies that were buried. It was the truth.

A straight-up book
Revisado: 06-30-11
While I listened to the entire book and found it entertaining, it was a straight-up old-fashioned detective story. No twists, surprises. And it was predictable.

When Chaz Perron's wife discovers that he is running a scam (posing as a marine biologist to doctor water samples so that an agribusiness tycoon can continue illegally dumping fertilizer into the Everglades), he pushes her overboard from a cruise liner. Unlucky for Chaz, Joey survives clutching a bale of Jamaican pot. Rescued from the Atlantic by a former police officer, Mick Stranahan, she decides not to report him but instead haunt and taunt him, with Mick's help, by playing dead.

Fun entertainment--great narrator
Revisado: 09-22-04
A humorious selection is unusual for me--but I had so much fun with this book. The cliche's, the fun they had messing with the bad buy, the people who "grew" in the book were actually touching. Sure didn't bore me--I just loved every moment of it. Wonderful, fun writing, fastastic narration. I'd been feeling a little low, and I gotta say this sure helped me thru. I'll be watching for more books by this author, esp. when read by Stephen Hoye.

Loved it!
Revisado: 01-09-04
Kindsy Millhone has become a comfortable, old friend. I can think of no reader other than Judy Kaye to portray her. Never boring. The sound person may have been asleep at the switch, but it wasn't bad. Certainly wasn't Judy Kaye's fault. Her reading, as always, was flawless. I loved the book.

Last Car to Elysian Fields
Revisado: 01-09-04
This books sounds as though it were a home recording with background sounds and a totally amature reader. I'm amazed at the folks who enjoyed his reading. Slow book opening, slurred reading, nobody with whom to identify--I didn't make it through the first chapter. And, usually, I LOVE all the books.
