Historia
Growing up a 90-pound weakling tormented by bullies in the schoolyards of Kansas, young Matthew Polly dreamed of one day journeying to the Shaolin Temple in China to become the toughest fighter in the world, like Caine in his favorite 1970s TV series, Kung Fu. While in college, Matthew decided the time had come to pursue this quixotic dream before it was too late. Much to the dismay of his parents, he dropped out of Princeton to spend two years training with the legendary sect of monks who invented kung fu and Zen Buddhism.

Sifu of words.
Revisado: 07-24-22
Mr. Polly has down a brilliant job relaying his experiences as a disciple of the Shaolin Temple. A certain television show of the 70’s led many young impressionable minds to believe that the monks of Shaolin were the end-all, be-all of martial arts. Mr.Polly does a great job of changing my mind about that. While being a monk is a tough life, a disciplined life, they are still human, with human needs and tendencies. I knew this in my head, from life experience, but after listening to Mr. Polly’s book, I finally knew it in my heart.
Thank you sir for making your experience real for me!
I also felt Mr. Newbern did an excellent job in his narration.

A raw, in depth look into a man who wasn't defined by his environment. Awesome
