Historia
The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss. What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.

What happened?
Revisado: 07-14-20
The last book was awesome, with great action scenes and a good villain. This book was literally just one extended level up sequence. there were some fights scattered throughout but they always felt like they were thrown in to break up the masses of prompts and status updates. Not enough new story is covered, it's overshadowed by having to sit through half hour long stat and talent descriptions that could've taken a quarter of the time. Let me be clear, I enjoy when Richter unlocks new talents, but I like it as a supplement to move the story forward. In this book, he winds up in the same situation as at the end of the last book (more or less). The only significant upgrade I cared about was regarding the tier system, but even that felt lackluster when the effect of the upgrade on his surroundings are blasé.
One of the main strong suits of this series have always been the allies and friends made along the way. This book has literally none of them. It's Richter, alone in a cave, by himself (sometimes with poorly written food poisoning) for 95 percent of the book. I don't care about stat upgrades in a vacuum. I want to see the effects of his actions on the surrounding world (just like his tier status says he should be affecting everyone on the planet). Maybe even consider releasing his big upgrades like this in an appendix at the end of each book. I can't tell you how many times I heard some variation of the sentence "but the next talent changed everything/really blew him away/ was a complete game changer". You can tell me what happens, or show me what happens. please choose the latter for the next book.

stuck with it but the story didn't carry me too much. They got rid of the constant repeating of the stats which was a pleasant change. Unfortunately the main character just isnt very interesting to me, he's pretty easy to read and I feel that rather doubt character development the author sometimes just says "let's just have a random encounter instead". Its a fun book but not really what I'm looking for.

Historia
Excuse me if I'm feeling sentimental. I might die tonight. My name is Candy Tran. Before I was hunting down serial killers and feeding men to alligators, I was a normal, church-going, tax-paying citizen. Before all of this. I've been given a chance to tell my story, so please, listen closely. This is going to take a while.

Quite a fun thriller with some surprising plot twists! I almost wish it was longer so I could've listened to more of the story. The voice actress was incredibly talented and did a great job of developing Candy's personality! looking forward to book two whenever it comes out.
