Historia
When Van Tudor returns to his childhood home, he inherits more than the family farm. His grandfather used to tell him fantastic stories of spacemen and monsters, princesses and galactic knights. Little did Van realize, the old man's tales were more than fiction; they were real. Hidden beneath the old barn, Van’s legacy is waiting: a starship, not of this world. With his combat AI, an android bird named Perry, Van takes his first steps into the wider galaxy. He soon finds that space is far busier and more dangerous than he could have ever conceived.

Fun read.

This would be a good foundation for a video game. It's a light relaxing escape that reads like a role playing game with quests for credits and experience and a tech tree with upgrades.

Historia
The James Webb Space Telescope is transforming the universe right before our eyes—and here, for the first time, is the inside account of how the mission originated, how it performs its miracles of science, and what its revolutionary images are revealing. Pillars of Creation tells the story of one of the greatest scientific achievements in the history of civilization, a $10 billion instrument with a staggeringly ambitious goal: unlocking the secrets of the cosmos.

An enjoyable easy listen

Nice and accessible for the none scientist. It goes into astronomy history and political and bureaucratic history that brought JWST about. It has several stories of individuals and their efforts that personalize the book.

Historia
Given the fact that there are perhaps 400 billion stars in our galaxy alone and perhaps 400 billion galaxies in the universe, it stands to reason that somewhere out there, in the 14-billion-year-old cosmos, there is or once was a civilization at least as advanced as our own. The sheer enormity of the numbers almost demands that we accept the truth of this hypothesis. Why, then, have we encountered no evidence, no messages, no artifacts of these extraterrestrials?

Terrible lizards. That’s what the word dinosaurs means. Yet dinosaurs are not true lizards, and they are not necessarily terrible, either. Paleontologists have overturned many misconceptions, and in Dinosaurs!, we look at what the latest research tells us and what we still have to learn about these endlessly fascinating creatures.

Very interesting for the non scientist.
Revisado: 12-20-21
This book was easy to listen to and understand. It's not overly technical. It would be a good book for a child interested in dinosaurs or a non scientist adult like myself. It is obvious that it was carefully written for the public. Thank you to the people who put in the effort on this fine piece of educational material.

Historia
Malcolm Gladwell, author of New York Times best sellers including Talking to Strangers and host of the podcast Revisionist History, uses original interviews, archival footage, and his trademark insight to weave together the stories of a Dutch genius and his homemade computer, a band of brothers in Central Alabama, a British psychopath, and pyromaniacal chemists at Harvard. As listeners hear these stories unfurl, Gladwell examines one of the greatest moral challenges in modern American history.

An interesting take on historical events.
Revisado: 09-10-21
Gladwell really lost some credibility with me on two technical points with which I am familiar. The biggest one was when he said that airplanes needed a strong tail wind to push them into the air. Airplanes takeoff into the wind. It's airspeed not ground speed that matters. This shows that he knows facts but doesn't actually understand the first thing about what he is talking about when it comes to aviation. Second was when he talked about the jet stream. Most of what he said was factually correct. Except that the jet stream was known and it was known several years before and by Americans. Wiley Post knew about the jet stream and used it to fly around the northern hemisphere. Everyone at the top of aviation knew at least something about high altitude winds and that post flew high and went east trying to catch those winds. It wasn't understood how wide the jet stream was or how it moved and bent. These things make me doubt the credibility of the other facts and research in the book. But it's not a technical book about flying. It's about psychology and morality. Trying to get inside the heads of people who are long dead and make judgments about their morality through a 21st century lens is a bit of a stretch at some points in this book. Overall it is still a good read about important events in history and addresses questions about war that were new in WWII and are still with us today.

Driving a car is not an automatic activity that a person can do while concentrating on something else. Doing that could get you or other innocent people killed or maimed. Throwing away your children's toys while they are away to avoid drama as this book says to do is a serious boundary violation and could turn them into hoarders or worse. This book has time honored time management ideas that can be gotten from better sources mixed in with really bad advice. Saying that this book is not worth the time to read is too nice. Following the ideas in this book could do harm to you those around you.
