Historia
A balanced account of game changes, conflicts and ambitions. The fall from popular grace of the previously adulated brother of the heir to the British throne as a consequence of his marriage to a beautiful and dynamic Hollywood starlet of colour makes for fascinating listening in best-selling royal author Lady Colin Campbell's balanced account. Lady Colin knows her royal history and psychology, and as the first seven years of her adult life were spent in the USA, she has a foot in both the American and British camps.

Extremely one sided
Revisado: 04-28-24
Takes the same stories we’ve all heard or read about Harry and Meghan and puts a devious negative spin on them. I couldn’t get past chapter 3. What a nasty person the author must be to see things in such a light.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

One of my favorite authors and one of my favorite narrator actors. A great listen, and as others have said, I only wish there were more.

Historia
Alaska, 1920: a brutal place to homestead, and especially tough for recent arrivals Jack and Mabel. Childless, they are drifting apart - he breaking under the weight of the work of the farm; she crumbling from loneliness and despair. In a moment of levity during the season's first snowfall, they build a child out of snow. The next morning the snow child is gone - but they glimpse a young, blonde-haired girl running through the trees. This little girl, who calls herself Faina, seems to be a child of the woods.

Boring
Revisado: 05-12-23
I live in Alaska and I thought this would be a fun listen. It actually seemed creepy to me. There’s no way anyone would let a child go off in to the Alaska winter by themselves. So either make it a fantasy or make it a reality but don’t try to do both. Going back-and-forth between Mabel who admitted to seeing the child and the husband who didn’t admit
to having seen the child to their friends made no sense. I really tried to finish it I have six hours left but I just can’t torture myself anymore.

What is the point?
Revisado: 10-24-22
You know exactly what is going on from the beginning. I read the recap before I bought the book. Nothing new happens… yes the judge has a list yes he’s a serial killer yes victims daughter tracked him down. I kept waiting for something unexpected some plot twist. This was a waste of time I haven’t read John Grisham in decades and now I know why

This book was not worth the time I spent listening to it. I really wanted to find out the identity of the journalist and I was disappointed when I did. To me personally the narrator’s voice was irritating but I think that’s just my personal preference. I don’t understand the many star reviews.

It just did not hold my interest
Revisado: 10-16-21
I really struggled to even finish this. The male narrator sounded kind of automated. But otherwise the narration was good. The story just wasn’t that interesting. I kept listening to it waiting for it to get better but it never really did. This author is new to me and perhaps this is a typical story.

Great book
Revisado: 08-20-19
This was recommended to me from a friend. I probably would have missed it otherwise. I don’t usually read books about rape and it’s aftermath. This book was very different because it dealt with the treatment of women in the military good and bad. I can’t recommend it enough.

Historia
If you struggle with binge eating, emotional eating, stress eating, or if you repeatedly manage to lose weight only to gain it all back, you may be approaching things with the wrong mindset. Most contemporary thought on overeating and bingeing focuses on healing and self-love. But people who've overcome food and weight issues often report it was more like capturing and caging a rabid dog than learning to love their inner child.

I like the narrator. I have listened to her before. The story was very interesting. I thought it was just a bit depressing and frustrating that she kept getting walked on.
