Historia
Travelling at almost 18,000 miles per hour - 10 times faster than a rifle bullet - Yuri Gagarin circles the globe in just 106 minutes. From his windows, he sees the Earth as nobody has before, crossing a sunset and a sunrise, crossing oceans and continents, witnessing its beauty and its fragility. While his launch begins in total secrecy, within hours of his landing, he has become a world celebrity - the first human to leave the planet. Beyond tells the thrilling story behind that epic flight on its 60th anniversary.

Historia
Erebus Resort, occupying a magnificent, hundred-thousand acre valley deep in the Colorado Rockies, offers guests the experience of viewing woolly mammoths, Irish Elk, and giant ground sloths in their native habitat, brought back from extinction through the magic of genetic manipulation. When a billionaire's son and his new wife are kidnapped and murdered in the Erebus back country by what is assumed to be a gang of eco-terrorists, Colorado Bureau of Investigation Agent Frances Cash partners with county sheriff James Colcord to track down the perpetrators.

Disappointing. Pretty much just a retelling of Jurassic Park with way too much gratuitous swearing.

Historia
Five years ago, the mysterious and inscrutable head of Effective Engineering Solutions, Eli Glinn, led a mission to recover a gigantic meteorite - the largest ever discovered - from a remote island off the coast of South America. The mission ended in disaster when their ship, the Rolvaag, foundered in a vicious storm in the Antarctic waters and broke apart, sinking - along with its unique cargo - to the ocean floor. One hundred and eight crew members perished, and Eli Glinn was left paralyzed.

A new low for Gideon Crew
Revisado: 05-23-24
I really enjoy the Pendergast, Nora Kelly, and other books by these authors. The Gideon Crew stories, and particularly Beyond the Ice Limit, are not my favorites. None of the characters are likeable, the main character in particular, and the gratuitous swearing is unnecessary and offensive. This story was ridiculous. While it's science fiction, it should be believable at some level. One might as well read L. Ron Hubbard. I will not be reading any additional Gideon Crew novels and wish the authors would go back to what they do best - Pendergast.

Never is an extraordinary novel, full of heroines and villains, false prophets and elite warriors, jaded politicians and opportunistic revolutionaries. It brims with cautionary wisdom for our times, and delivers a visceral, heart-pounding story that transports listeners to the brink of the unimaginable.

Read the Kings Bridge series instead
Revisado: 03-13-24
Not Mr. Follet's best. A bit ponderous with characters who are not particularly likeable. After the smashing King's Bridge series, this one was disappointing.

Historia
Sure to rank as one of the greatest aviation memoirs ever written, Viper Pilot is an Air Force legend's thrilling eyewitness account of modern air warfare. From 1986 to 2006, Lt. Col. Dan Hampton was a leading member of the Wild Weasels, the elite Air Force fighter squadrons whose mission is recognized as the most dangerous job in modern air combat. Weasels are the first planes sent into a war zone, flying deep behind enemy lines purposely seeking to draw fire from surface-to-air missiles and artillery. They must skillfully evade being shot down - and then return to destroy the threats, thereby making the skies safe for everyone else to follow.

Horrible narrator
Revisado: 02-12-20
The story was not bad, although it had a lbit of an anti-Semitic tone that was in bad form. The narrator, however, was awful. While he used some amusing, if inaccurate accents, his use of the long “a” in every case where the word “a” occurred was quite annoying. Worse, he mispronounce several words - some repeatedly. Does any one edit these things?
