Had a great potential but....
Revisado: 01-03-21
I bought this book based on a recommendation from BookRiot. It sounded that I will really like it and find it interesting. It has been some of the longest 5 hours of my life, I do not enjoy the content, the narrator sounded good but the story was not as interesting as it could. The information is very good, But the structure of the book was just boring. I have read several autdiobooks in the last couple of years, I have DNF some of them and I still wonder why I did not DNF and return this book, it was just not for me.

Historia
In 1912, scientist Marie Curie spent two months on the British seaside at the home of Hertha Ayrton, an accomplished mathematician, inventor, and suffragette. At the time, Curie was in the throes of a scandal in France over her affair with Paul Langevin, which threatened to overshadow the accomplishment of her second Nobel Prize. Performed by Kate Mulgrew and Francesca Faridany at the Minetta Lane Theatre, this play by Lauren Gunderson is an ode to two remarkable women.

Not the Marie Cure that I know
Revisado: 01-28-20
I have read a couple of books about Marie Curie so to listen to this is a bit disappointing. I am polish, she was polish so to represent her with an extreme french accent it takes her real roots, yes she did speak perfect in French but it does not means that her accent was like that, also I think that the voice use for her conversations was over dramatic, I have read how she wrote and what people say about her behavior but I just could not enjoy this audiobook. It was not for me. Too bad because I had high expectations.

Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Great Biography!
Revisado: 10-27-19
It took me a long time to listen this biography. I regret this. The story is very well narrated, it brings historical context to events that we don't hear (at least in my case) that often and also bring me some laughs. Trevor Noah made a great narration of his coming of age years and some moments of his childhood that allow us to understand (or appreciate really) The person that he is and how far he has come. If he makes later on a second biography I am pretty sure I will also listen to the audio

Most people want to avoid thinking about death, but Caitlin Doughty - a 20-something with a degree in medieval history and a flair for the macabre - took a job at a crematory, turning morbid curiosity into her life’s work. With an original voice that combines fearless curiosity and mordant wit, Caitlin tells an unusual coming-of-age story full of bizarre encounters, gallows humor, and vivid characters (both living and very dead).

Where we go when we died
Revisado: 07-21-19
I really like this book and probably I will also get her other books. I really like how Caitlin Doughty explain what happpen with our bodies when we died and how important is this in the process to let go. I had never read Mary Roach but it seems that their style is quite similar. Quite interesting for those who want to learn more about this topic.

Historia
Four children were abducted and murdered outside of Detroit during the winters of 1976 and 1977; their bodies eventually dumped in snow banks around the city. J. Reuben Appelman was six years old at the time the murders began and had evaded an abduction attempt during that same period, fueling a lifelong obsession with what became known as the Oakland County Child Killings. There were few credible leads and equally few credible suspects. That's what the cops had passed down to the press, and that's what the city of Detroit and J. Reuben Appelman had come to believe.

I liked the narrative and the story but was too focus un the life of the writer. I prefer less focus on that and more in the actual facts

Historia
On August 11, 2008, 18-year-old Marie reported that a masked man broke into her apartment near Seattle and raped her. Within days, the police swiftly pivoted and began investigating Marie. Confronted with inconsistencies in her story and the doubts of others, Marie broke down and said her story was a lie - a bid for attention. More than two years later, Colorado detectives pursued a serial rapist who photographed his victims, threatening to release the images online, and whose calculated steps to erase all physical evidence suggested he might be a soldier or a cop.

If you could sum up A False Report in three words, what would they be?
Brutally Real Cases
What did you like best about this story?
The way that the authors attach all the victims it did not feel that I was listening non fiction in some points it seems I was listening a novel, also some of the stories did not sound real, reality was too hard for me to believe (maybe because it was also my first True Crime book)

Narrator speak too fast
Revisado: 02-18-18
What did you like best about Why You Eat What You Eat? What did you like least?
I really like this book and was interested in what the narrator was saying the problem is that multiple times I have a hard time to keep the rhythm of the narrator. She was speaking to fast for my taste. But overall is an interesting book that explain the relation of hour hapits and traditions with our food.
Would you be willing to try another one of Jo Anna Perrin’s performances?
Not sure. She speaks too fast
Did Why You Eat What You Eat inspire you to do anything?
It help me to understand more some of the things that I do
