Historia
Tell a stranger that you talk to yourself, and you’re likely to get written off as eccentric. But the truth is that we all have a voice in our head. When we talk to ourselves, we often hope to tap into our inner coach but find our inner critic instead. When we’re facing a tough task, our inner coach can buoy us up: Focus - you can do this. But, just as often, our inner critic sinks us entirely: I’m going to fail. They’ll all laugh at me. What’s the use?

Great narration and examples. Good balance of science and stories that exemplify the science both of individuals and sociological models. Helped my brain a lot

What a wonderful author
Revisado: 02-22-24
Psychopath Free and this book have truly changed my life in such a positive way. I never heard an account that so closely mirrored my own. I was so saddened to hear Jackson passed away and I have gathered he took his own life from what I have read. It’s so unfair that wonderful intelligent people who help others are in so much unbearable pain. No one asks to be born, and I want to just say thanks to Jackson for giving so much to us all in the time he was here.

Historia
Many of my listeners grew up in broken homes. They have wondered for many years what went wrong. They don't feel like their childhoods were happy, but they can't quite put their fingers on what caused the discontent. On the surface their parents tried to make it look like everything was picture perfect. Other people outside of the family might even have believed it. The children often grow up blaming themselves for everything that went wrong at home. However, this is far from the truth.

Historia
Severin is a passionate man who falls head over heels in love (or maybe lust?) with the beautiful young widow Wanda, begging her to treat him as her slave. Torn between pleasure and the fight against his own self-esteem, Severin submits to his mistress while Wanda discovers her own pleasure in her domination, an action that previously made her scoff. Deemed scandalous at the time of publication, this novel is a classic that opens a dialogue about human attraction and gender power struggles.

Narration is weird
Revisado: 02-10-23
The narration sometimes seems to omit words, sound like a robot, or make it sound like this book was translated poorly from another language. It’s not annoying in most of the book, but in some parts, it makes the text incoherent.

In a Tokyo suburb, a young man named Toru Okada searches for his wife’s missing cat—and then for his wife as well—in a netherworld beneath the city’s placid surface. As these searches intersect, he encounters a bizarre group of allies and antagonists. Gripping, prophetic, and suffused with comedy and menace, this is one of Haruki Murakami’s most acclaimed and beloved novels.

Great book. RUINED by the narrator.
I can’t believe this is even allowed to be on here, this narrator should be fined for hi crimes against fiction readers.
Audible: you can’t find a better narrator ?!?!?! I’m going to complain.
This is so not ok. It’s like a joke.

Great text and sympathetic author / bio
Revisado: 04-19-21
This is truly a book on Magick that is perfectly "of the times" in the best way. Well conceptualized and outlined practices, with ethical considerations, biographical grounding and yet free of dogma - especially the dogma of "the light/love and light/positive vibes only" etc et al. pervasive in much of the "self help" and "new age" occult of now a days. Great to learn from his experiential/experimental approach. Appreciated -- and for me, highly referenced -- this is an essential text from a natural teacher. I don't know who the below reviewer is referencing when they say Echols has endorsed a white power person on his you tube, I could not find anything about this via search but, ya know -- ethos is a real thing, so I'd be curious to know more about this. The punk community definitely supported Echols, and i'm not sure if that reviewer has experienced a common misinterpretation of the term "skin" in the punk scene (aka S.H.A.R.P.S. aka skinheads against racial prejudice) since they did not name any names I could search for. BUT I will add my vote for Echols to branch out from the broh-core vibes of ppl like rogan and trussell now that he has achieved a public name in his own rite. He should hit up radio show host Caroline Casey - activist and former students of Dion Fortune just to name one. But also, perhaps he is an effective healer to that broh or WP demographic?...maybe that's his calling?? its controversial but either way, curious to see what he does with the mic, now. I'm Listening!!!! Love all the books but this is the best one! Peace ya'll.
