Historia
A pioneering neuroscientist shares his story of growing up in one of Miami's toughest neighborhoods and how it led him to his groundbreaking work in drug addiction. As a youth, Carl Hart didn't realize the value of school; he studied just enough to stay on the basketball team. At the same time, he was immersed in street life. Today he is a cutting-edge neuroscientist - Columbia University's first tenured African American professor in the sciences.

Dr. Hart, if only we lived in a country that was able to be superbly educated as you yourself have been.
Revisado: 10-26-16
I could not agree any more with your knowledge and the view points that you have so graciously expressed. If only the political and enforcement wings in our country could be educated beyond the level we currently live with and experience. I am very grateful for your efforts and contributions. I only wish the country we live in was able to learn and change in line with reality rather than view points we are continually exposed and controlled by. It is rare to hear someone speak so truthfully and without the inbred biases we are continually exposed and controlled by.
Thank you for your contributions.

Historia
For decades addiction has been viewed and treated as a social and behavioral illness, afflicting people of "weak" character and "bad" moral fiber. However, recent breakthroughs in genetic technology have enabled doctors, for the first time, to correctly diagnose the disease and prove that addiction is an inherited, neuro-chemical disease originating in brain chemistry, determined by genetics, and triggered by stress. In their groundbreaking The Addiction Solution, David Kipper and Steven Whitney distill these exciting findings.
