Historia
The half century extending from the imperial crisis between Britain and its colonies in the 1760s to the early decades of the new republic of the United States was the greatest and most creative era of constitutionalism in American history, and perhaps in the world. During these decades, Americans explored and debated all aspects of politics and constitutionalism - the nature of power, liberty, representation, rights, the division of authority between different spheres of government, sovereignty, judicial authority, and written constitutions.

A perfect companion to Pauline Maier’s Ratification; B. Bailyn’s Ideological Origins of the American Revolution; as well as Woods’ earlier work Creation of the American Republic
These books provide needed context to help understand America’s current dysfunction and lessons to help build America 2.0

Historia
With the end of the Civil War, the nation recommenced its expansion onto traditional Indian tribal lands, setting off a wide-ranging conflict that would last more than three decades. In an exploration of the wars and negotiations that destroyed tribal ways of life even as they made possible the emergence of the modern United States, Peter Cozzens gives us both sides in comprehensive and singularly intimate detail.

Well written, researched, and balanced history of the Indians and the closing of the American West.
The story of one civilization conquering another dates back to Cain and Able. Conquest is part of who we are and our history is made up of stories about the winners and losers. The Lexus and Olive Tree meet Clash of Civilizations.
Highly recommend the book and audio version
