Historia
When an experiment to study quantum uncertainty goes spectacularly wrong, physics student Bill Rustad and his friends find that they have accidentally created an inter-dimensional portal. They connect to Outland - an alternate Earth with identical geology, but where humans never evolved. The group races to establish control of the portal before the government, the military, or evildoers can take it away. Then everything changes when the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts in an explosion large enough to destroy civilization and kill half the planet.

Great Story and Interesting Characters
Revisado: 01-22-25
Very interesting in concept and execution, with understandable motivations of the characters both good and bad. If it were a print book, I would have had trouble putting it down. Fascinating blend of advanced physics and very human nature.

Answers Some Questions
Revisado: 09-21-24
This series of books traces the origins of characters that were introduced in the Drop Trooper and Glory Boy series’. The story is well-written and expertly narrated, leading us on a twisted tale of rebellion, its resolution, and ultimately, its murky origins. I’ll give you a hint: it’s not a straight line….,

Worth a Listen
Revisado: 08-25-24
This a very interesting story about everything that interests me; DNA, mutations, lab procedures, and most facets of scientific inquiry, but at the same time, it is told at a reasonably fast pace and didn’t bore me with unnecessary details. There was just enough character development to keep the story moving and not get bogged down describing everyone’s childhood traumas. Kudos to the author for a fine story, and many thanks to the narrator for bringing the characters and story to life.

Historia
Equipped with the entirety of human knowledge, a sentient ship is launched on a last-ditch journey to find a new home for civilization. Trillions of miles. Tens of thousands of years. In the space between, the AI has plenty of time to think about life, the vastness of the universe, everything it was meant to do, and—with a perspective created but not limited by humans—what it should do.

A New Perspective
Revisado: 04-02-24
For me, what stood out was how much time elapsed on earth as the AI moved between the stars. It certainly makes one reconsider our responses when our flight is delayed or the taxi cab is a little late.

Wow! What a Ride!
Revisado: 03-26-24
Great story and narrated beautifully! Pace varies (like real life) from plodding to manic and the storyline is woven wonderfully into the backdrop of time. Sufficiently detailed, but not overly so, and leaves us looking forward to Book 5.

Wow. This book is great! It is also a not-so-subtle reminder of the need to be careful in what we say and do because of their effect on the future. Very well done, Mr. Jones, and a shout out to Mr. Porter, I have been a fan since the Bobiverse series.

Realistic Characters, Thoughtful Plot
Revisado: 03-22-24
The story moves along at a good pace with enough characters of varied backgrounds and motivations to keep my interest. Also, there are technical problems to be solved, and they are resolved without the use of fake science or fake math. The plot twist at the end was totally unexpected, I.e. Amy’s motivation. Very well done, Mr. Jones! Five stars across the board!

Masterful
Revisado: 11-15-23
Masterful storytelling of a masterpiece of a story. Enough of the personality of the characters comes through but not excessive, enough plot twists to keep it interesting, and a great wrap-up to a very complex and involved story. Too bad we can only give 5 stars, it deserves so much more.

Historia
Ignition! is the story of the search for a rocket propellant which could be trusted to take man into space. This search was a hazardous enterprise carried out by rival labs who worked against the known laws of nature, with no guarantee of success or safety. John Drury Clark writes with irreverent and eyewitness immediacy about the development of the explosive fuels strong enough to negate the relentless restraints of gravity. The resulting volume is as much a memoir as a work of history, sharing a behind-the-scenes view of an enterprise that eventually took men to the moon.

Amazing Story, Highly Recommended!
Revisado: 12-29-22
This book describes in some detail the development of liquid propellants for rockets. Neil Armstrong landed on the moon the year I graduated from high school so my childhood was filled with rockets from Redstone, Atlas, to Saturn, and the manned flights of Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo. I found this book to be very interesting even though much of the chemistry was beyond me.
But the chemistry is just a small portion of the story. If you focus on the flow of the work being done you can see real beauty in the thought processes of the chemists as they struggle to discover the fuels that have the right properties to best fit the perceived requirements.
Like the title says, it’s an amazing story!
