An Interesting Twist
Revisado: 11-04-18
The Lady Sherlock Series is an interesting take on classic Sherlock Holmes. Although it takes a bit for the story to pick up, A Study in Scarlet Women was worth the listen!

Fantastic Book!
Revisado: 11-04-18
I downloaded this book when it first came out and forgot about it until a week ago. Wanting to read something a little different, I picked up Rebel of the Sands and easily finished the book within a couple of days. RotS was a great listen and definitely propelled me to listen to the next two books quickly after. A great series to listen to!

Historia
In the house of Helios, god of the sun and mightiest of the Titans, a daughter is born. But Circe is a strange child—not powerful, like her father, nor viciously alluring like her mother. Turning to the world of mortals for companionship, she discovers that she does possess power—the power of witchcraft, which can transform rivals into monsters and menace the gods themselves.

Exceptional Performance
Revisado: 11-04-18
Perdita Weeks' reading of this was absolutely fantastic and made the book for me. I usually don't gravitate to this sort of book, but after listening to the sample and reading the reviews, I made the plunge: and I am glad I did! Circe was an good listen, and although at times I found myself not necessarily attached to the story, Weeks' narration kept me going. Would definitely listen to other books narrated by Weeks!

Beautiful Cover?
Revisado: 11-04-18
I am slightly ashamed to admit that I did not finish this book. I couldn't finish it - no matter how hard I tried. I initially was attracted to the cover of the book and the premise of the story. And the first couple of chapters were interesting and solid!
But once Serena, the main character, enters (or is "kidnapped/saved") the Fae realm, everything kind of falls a part. Every male character decides that she is the one they care for or need to protect. Serena loses that spark that she had in the first chapters, and really falls into the dreaded "can't make her own decisions and whines" category of heroines. Finally after listening to 2/3rd of the book, I found myself either forgetting that I was actually listening to the book or wanting my battery to die on my phone so I could find an excuse to stop. It was at that point I decided I should probably just find a different book to listen to.

A sizzling sequel to Rebel of the Sands that will make you question everything you thought you knew about the land of Miraji! The gunslinger Amani al'Hiza never wanted to be a hero or a revolutionary, but now she's become a key member of the rapidly growing rebellion against the Sultan of Miraji. After Amani is captured by the Sultan's army and imprisoned in his palace, she realizes she's there not to be questioned as a rebel but used as a Demdji.

Pretty Good Sequel
Revisado: 11-04-18
A solid follow up to the Rebel of the Sands. The narration of the book was, yet again, on point and really added to the character and world building written by Hamilton. Well worth the listen!

Historia
When gunslinging Amani Al'Hiza escaped her dead-end town, she never imagined she'd join a revolution, let alone lead one. But after the bloodthirsty Sultan of Miraji imprisoned the Rebel Prince Ahmed in the mythical city of Eremot, she doesn't have a choice. Armed with only her revolver, her wits, and her untameable Demdji powers, Amani must rally her skeleton crew of rebels for a rescue mission through the unforgiving desert to a place that, according to maps, doesn't exist. As she watches those she loves most lay their lives on the line against ghouls and enemy soldiers, Amani questions whether she can be the leader they need or if she is leading them all to their deaths.

Revisado: 11-04-18
Although the story got a bit tedious and predictable at points, overall Hero at the Fall was a fitting conclusion to the trilogy.
