Historia
Vladimir Putin is the world’s most dangerous man. Alone among world leaders, he has the power to reduce the United States and Europe to ashes in a nuclear firestorm and has threatened to do so. He invades his neighbors, most recently Ukraine, meddles in western elections, and orders assassinations inside and outside Russia. His regime is autocratic and deeply corrupt. But that is only half the story. Unflinching, hard-hitting, and objective, Philip Short’s biography gives us the whole tale, up to the present day.

Consider the source.
Revisado: 11-15-24
You’ll get hints throughout that the author is VERY anti Trump. One of his main sources is Jake Sullivan if that gives you a hint of where he’s coming from. He bashes Trump’s Administration as being entirely inadequate and states the relationship between the US and Russia was abysmal during Trump’s first term. Definitely NOT the way I remember it nor the way my Russian wife remembers it.

Historia
One of the most revered works in English literature, Great Expectations traces the coming of age of a young orphan, Pip, from a boy of shallow aspirations into a man of maturity. From the chilling opening confrontation with an escaped convict to the grand but eerily disheveled estate of bitter old Miss Havisham, all is not what it seems in Dickens’ dark tale of false illusions and thwarted desire.

Historia
The murder of brutal landowner Fyodor Karamazov changes the lives of his sons irrevocably: Mitya, the sensualist, whose bitter rivalry with his father immediately places him under suspicion for parricide; Ivan, the intellectual, driven to breakdown; the spiritual Alyosha, who tries to heal the family's rifts; and the shadowy figure of their bastard half-brother, Smerdyakov. Dostoyevsky's dark masterwork evokes a world where the lines between innocence and corruption, good and evil, blur and everyone's faith in humanity is tested.

Second worst narration I’ve heard
Revisado: 10-22-23
This is a serious book yet the narration is something out of a Monty Python skit. Absolutely wrong for this story and made it almost impossible to listen to.

Eye opening
Revisado: 07-29-23
This was very eye opening, considering the narrative that was fed to us by the government and the media. Snowden is a patriot. Knowingly sacrificed his future and his happiness for his country.

One of his best
Revisado: 08-10-22
Fantastic book that’s among McCarthy’s best. I put this right up there with “All the Pretty Horses”. On a side note, I also have to give relatively high marks for the movie in the way it followed the book so well.

Excellent narration and stories.
Revisado: 05-06-22
Not for the fright hearted or those sweetish about intimate subjects and foul language. If you can get past that, it’s a hilarious and at times heart rendering collection of wonderfully told stories. Pay attention to chapter 22. It’s as applicable today as when written.
