Historia
In 1955, as a result of a secret agreement reached between the Eisenhower Administration and a German breakaway group in Antarctica, a transnational corporate space program began to emerge. The secret infusion of personnel and resources from US military contractors into Antarctica allowed this transnational corporate program to steadily grow into a major space power, which would eventually surpass and eclipse the secret space programs run by the US Navy, Air Force, and the classified space programs of other nations.

WIld tale, maybe some is true, interesting take
Revisado: 11-25-18
I like to read "alternative" history and explanations of information on science and space. This defintely delivers on that. While I am not sure where the truth lies in our explosive technology growth and "biggest business" + government involvement, Michael Salla provides an interesting tale.
The story goes back to before WWII and the German and Nazi technology. It is hard to believe that the technology he writes about could be kept secret. Not to mention "psychic" contact with aliens.
Like I said, wild read for me.

Historia
Astronomers have recently discovered thousands of planets that orbit stars throughout the Milky Way. Much of what has captured the imagination of planetary scientists and the public is the unexpected strangeness of these distant worlds. The quest to find other worlds brims with possibility, and Donald Goldsmith presents the science of exoplanets and the search for extraterrestrial life in a way that even Earthlings with little to no background in astronomy or astrophysics can understand and enjoy.

For those interested in how Exoplanets were found
Revisado: 11-25-18
This is esoteric information on the history and methods of exoplanet detection - detecting planets around other stars. This book is best for amateur astronomers interested in exoplanets. It may also be a good read (listen) for those interested in science and discovery.
The first exoplanet was only detected in 1992. Since then, new methods have been found, earth and space based telescopes have been used and now thousands of exoplanets have been detected. Amateur astronomers can even do follow up detection to verify exoplanets with only modest (but quality) equipment.
This book gives a good history and explanation of exoplanets.
