Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

Wanted to love it.

I loved season one of the show and wanted to give the books a try. The narrator's voice ruined this series for me. It reminded me of Mrs. Potts, and I couldn't help but picture that in my head during every "adult" scene. Having already watched the show, I was dreading having a voice that sounded like Angela Lansbury's read the Jamie/Jack prison scene. I was very disappointed to see that this narrator is on all of the books in this series.

Historia
In 1945, Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon. Their blissful reunion is shattered when she touches a boulder in one of the ancient stone ruins and is instantly transported to a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans—in 1743. Will Claire find her way back to her own time, or is her destiny forever linked with Clan MacKenzie and the gallant James Fraser?

Historia
Scotland is a fascinating and ancient land filled with history. Not everything in Scotland is as it appears, however. Some Scots say this is a land haunted by spirits, a place of strange disappearances and unexplained phenomena. The Ghosts of Scotland: A Collection of Ghost Stories Across the Scottish Nation is a collection of such tales, just a few among the thousands of local legends and modern sightings that make Scotland one of the most haunted countries in the world.

Great mix of history and the supernatural
Revisado: 03-23-19
I bought this book in preparation for an upcoming trip to Scotland. I love visiting historic locations when traveling, and if that historic location is rumored to have a supernatural presence that’s even better. After this book, I’ll be adding a lot of places to my itinerary I wouldn’t have given a second thought to.

Corny and predictable. It had moments that were entertaining, but overall it felt like a very amateur author wrote this. Worth the listen, but wouldn’t do it again.
