This book was super enjoyable! Elliott and Malcolm are exactly the perfect complementing opposites. Malcolm is super focused, maybe a little too tightly wound and Elliott is wonderful at loosening him up and showing him he can still achieve his goals, even if he takes time to relax and enjoy life. Elliott can be a little too relaxed and not taking things as seriously as he should sometimes, and Malcolm shows him there’s nothing wrong with being more focused when time calls for it.

The prologue shows us their very first meeting a few years earlier which wasn’t exactly favourable for Elliott, so there was definitely an uphill battle for him to get Malcolm to see his other side but when he does it’s lovely. The way they are forced together by their coach off the ice was the perfect plot point to get them to see each other in a new way than just teammates. The way Malcolm learns a healthy respect for him and the next organic step was the attraction.

Darcy Stark, as always, gives a strong performance. Highly recommend!

Seeing them through Joe’s and Raff’s eyes in the previous 2 books, I was excited to see Jed and Artie’s love story play out in the final book of the series. As Jed is a widower I was sure there would be so emotional stuff to play out for him to accept his moving on. But unfortunately Jed made it difficult for me to cheer for him at times. Yes, he is feeling guilty about moving on emotionally after the loss of his husband more than 10 years earlier, but he says some truly hurtful things to Artie. I don’t know if I’d be unable to unhear those things if I was Artie, even with his complicated feelings. As the reader we obviously see inside Jed’s thinking and he thinks some truly beautiful things about Artie, and has wanted him for over 6 months, but those thoughts don’t come out of his mouth, only the things that continue to break Artie’s heart piece by piece by piece. I would have loved a sitdown discussion between them where they confronted some of what was said.

The chemistry between these two was unmatched! Both their working and friendly relationship merged beautifully into a romantic relationship. These two were meant to be, but man did they have to go through it to get there. I just wanted to snuggle with Artie for a good chunk of the story. Overall I do give it 5 stars because Morton does a great job showing it is possible to find love after loss, but there are many complicated emotions (including guilt) that can come from that, but ultimately it is okay to move on if it’s right for you. I had tears in my eyes at times because the feelings were so palpable. The paper roses were a truly beautiful touch to the story.

Even though I read it after Christmas, it was still the perfect holiday read! Hudson and Moody are so adorable together!!! Moody’s complete lack of a filter, and Hudson’s gentleness were the perfect combination.

It was completely endearing and Moody had me with a big smile on my face for a large part of it and giggling for another large part. Kirt Graves gave a wonderful performance here.

I was blessed to read both an ARC and enjoy an ALC of ‘Nightcrawler’.

I am so happy to be back in the world of the ‘Death and Destruction series’ with 2 brand new MCs! Miguel and Raven are both bounty hunters, who after fighting over the same case become huge rivals (at least in Miguel’s mind!) after Miguel loses out on a big day. Both men have deep emotional wounds which take working through, but Raven is the sunny golden retriever to Miguel’s grumpy black car which leads to a lot of their animosity. Amidst the backdrop of them continually going after the same bounties and butting heads, Miguel is caught up reading the reviews of a hilarious book reviewer named Nightcrawler. The books he reviews are absolutely hilarious and where Logan got the imagination from for these plots cracked me up, and also scares me lol I am a huge Michael Dean fan, and he brought the crazy book reviews to life. They were so much funnier hearing them in audio than on the page.

Thankfully Miguel and Raven eventually become reluctant partners on a case which leads to a wonderful love starting to bloom between them. I am looking forward to the deepening of their relationship as the series progresses, which is something Logan does so beautifully. I had a lot of fun with this one, and am looking to see what other crazy items they search for going forward.

Con & Frankie are perfect for each other

I originally read this novella when it was released as part of a giveaway and I loved it! Frankie and Con are the best of friends and business partners. Con (has loved Frankie since the moment they met) has been the shoulder for Frankie to cry on as he grieved the death of a husband he married after a truly whirlwind romance. Three years later Frankie comes out of the fog of grief to discover that at some point in the last three years he has fallen in love with Con, just in time for Con to think it’s time for him to move on and date. There’s pining and a little miscommunication and a ton of hilarious banter that Morton is famous for.

The addition of the epilogue was exactly what this story needed to help tie a bow around what was already an excellent story. I couldn’t recommend this novella more!

I am a fan of the best friend’s brother trope but unfortunately this one seemed to miss the mark and for me, I would consider it the weakest offering within the Franklin U co-authored series. One of my biggest issues is with Remy’s brother, Alex’s best friend - Bailey. He actually made this book painful to read at times for me. He is a wholly unlikeable whiny brat. Yes, your parents divorced, and yes you blame Remy but why is this severe super deep hate for him so overwhelming and why isn’t it focused on the person who actually deserves it? They get a free pass. How both Remy and Alex didn’t sit him down separately for a come to Jesus talk years ago is beyond me. Why didn’t the parents intervene? So many questions why Bailey was just allowed to behave in such a horrible manner for years to his brother. There’s a lot of focus on all of this as well which I feel does overpower the storytelling of the relationship between Remy and Alex who actually share a lot of really sweet moments together but I wanted to see more of them as an "out" couple.

Their banter is white hot from the moment they meet when Topher pulls Julian over for running a red light the day he moves to Savannah. Fast forward 3 years and it’s still just as hot. Julian became instant best friends with Harper, one of Topher’s sisters and has been nursing a huge crush since that first meeting. They now live across the hall from each other as Topher is living with Harper temporarily and Julian is loving every second of it. I was totally low key crushing on Julian since he and his corset vests first appearance in Aimee’s new Murder & Mayhem spin-off series. If you're looking for a low angst, biawakening sexy read this is it. There are lots of mentions of previous introduced characters around Savannah, but none so that would confuse a new to Aimee reader. I am always happily entertained by an Aimee Nicole Walker offering and I know you will be too.

Outcast is a pretty low angst story which was a pleasant surprise for me as I thought it would be. Hayden was told to leave at 16 when his dad discovered he was gay. After a hard number of years we slowly learn about, Hayden and the friends he has made, have found their way to the idyllic lakeside town they now live and work in.. Despite being embraced by the town, as well as his found family, Hayden only ever feels like an outcast because he constantly hears his homophobic parents’ voices in his head denigrating him. Tristan is the “straight” hometown hero, a deputy who comes from a loving family within the community. Instantly upon meeting for the first time, they are both drawn to each other and become immediate best friends while Hayden daydreams about more. Slowly Tristan comes to realize his feelings are much deeper than just friendly and goes about trying to romance Hayden. If there’s ever a book character who needs a huge hug and unconditional love, it’s Hayden. He is wonderful but his head is so full of negative self-talk thanks to his upbringing that he’s standing in the way of his own happiness. Tristan is so sweet in the way he supports Hayden and tries to drown out those voices with unconditional love. Outcast is a sweet, steamy, low angst bi-awakening that I would highly recommend.

This book is much more serious than those that have come before it in this series but it is just as wonderful an addition as those. Chris has been intrigued by Aiden for the past 3 years but has never had the bravery to approach and has watched him from afar. Aiden is drowning in school, barely socializing all to try and achieve a degree he doesn’t even really want, but feels he needs to help his father. It’s hard to watch Aiden put himself through so much as the ‘dad’ in the relationship with his father. There is a lot of talk about depression and alcohol addiction as Aiden’s father suffers from both. Aiden has a pure heart, doing something that makes him so unhappy for the betterment of someone else, but at what point does he (and will he) choose to live his life for himself? Chris blasts into Aiden’s life in a very funny and kind of embarrassing way, and once Chris has finally gotten Aiden’s full attention he has no plans on ever letting him go.

The final showdown is upon us!!

I have been obsessed with this series since book 1. I have loved each book and the side stories just as much. The world building has been excellent, and I love the struggle we have seen for the mages and shifters and how they have come together after learning the truth.

Mads and the pride go all out in their determination to take Anderson and the rest of the Red Cloth witches down. I found myself crying during a particularly gruesome fight as the imagery was so strong and Zaba did an excellent job portraying it. Michele Notaro took me on a serious emotional roller coaster with this one but the ending was soooooo worth it. And that epilogue was pure perfection. I am so sad to say goodbye to Mads, Cosmo and the entire Ono-Nai pride.
