My Pretties has chopped the ^serial killer door^ down - Jack Nicholson style!

My Pretties starts out by ripping the new scab off and slathering the freshly opened wound with some old school *monkey blood*!¡!¡
I will never look at a bird in a cage the same way again... A bird in a cage just wants to be set free.

This book pulls you and doesn't let go. You are immediately introduced to the serial killer.
As he engages with one of his unfortunate victims, you realize just how dark and twisted this book is about to be!
I love the world that Mr. Strand's mind resides in, he is a master when creating the mysterious creature that is- a serial killer.

My favorite genres are: mystery/psychological thrillers, and true crime. My Pretties encompasses both genres seamlessly; all while adding in some unexpected humor, mixed up with all the blood and smell... Yes,,, I said - smell... ewww.
You know that saying, 'there is someone out there for everyone?'
This book drives that sentiment home like nothing else will. This is clearly a case of - the deranged call to the deranged.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves gore, thrill, and some solid humor!

Holy Fricken Wow!

I usually don't read this type of book. I'm more into the, mystery/thriller genre. However, I do love a good scare now and again, just not so much that I can't sleep lol! This book, this book has me totally blown away. I have seen some pretty gory films in my day, I've read some pretty creepy books as well; this story is truly one of a kind. The first 3 chapters allows you to build a genuine, caring interest for the two main characters. This was not your typical slasher/thrasher tale of too many beers, one too many teenagers, and a poorly placed sex scene that ends with a blade going between the two people going at it. Oh, no,,,,, this story has depth, it has raw emotions that aren't solely due to the torturous acts that are being committed. There is love here. There is hope. There is despair. There is a chill lingering in the words of this tale that sadly rings the reality bell. This is one of those stories that is going to stay with me for a very long, long time. I finished this book in 2 days. I could not stop listening. I woke up both mornings with Roger, Tooth, and Jamie on my mind; hoping against hope that there was a chance in hell for one of them to survive. This is worth more than a credit!

Gingerbread Hag Goodness 🖤

I read this before I had the opportunity to (read it with my ears)! Hedy and her menagerie, especially, Maurice, had already stolen my heart! Now that I have listened to this wonderous tale all I can say is, WOW! Listening to this story really gave the characters life. The audible allowed me to see how close, or not, I was in my own imagination of who I thought they all really were. K.A. Miltimore has done an amazing job in bringing this magical shop, and it's inhabitants to life! Adelaide is a character that I hope we get to see more of, and learn more about who she was, what powers she has, and why she can't, or, doesn't leave the bakery. The story ends with a slight cliff hanger, and all I can say is, I cannot wait to read the 2nd book! My hat is off to you, K.A. Miltimore! Brava 🤗

Great story!

Before I begin my review I need to add that, "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review." With that being said, this review is completely honest regardless of the fact that I didn't use a credit for it. I wanted to start by saying how amazing it is to finally be intrigued by a story that revolves around the medical field. I tend to get bored easily by them, or realize early on that the author doesn't know much about, nor understand the medical field. Darden North actually works in the medical field and it shows in his writing! I found this book to be thoroughly engaging, mysterious, educational and fun all at the same time! Bravo Mr. North! The only downside to this story was the speed in which the narrator read. He also lacked the proper emotion for certain areas, in my opinion. The narrator wasn't terrible, he just didn't add anything to the story. I think this would have been a 5 star for me had I read it. Thank you, Mr. North! I look forward to reading more of your work.

Train wreck.

This is what you would get if Gone Girl, The Girl On The Train and The Breakdown crashed into eachother and badly jumbled up their stories. I went into this book with such high hope because of the outstanding reviews. I couldn't be more disappointed. The story starts out really promising and starts to fall apart late into the second half. The last few chapters had to be where the author gave up trying to be original and just threw together the ending. I was left with too many questions that should have been answered. The second half of this book is weak at best. The ending is horrible. I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone. I want my credit back.

Do Not Pass This One By!

Wow! What an amazing story! I have been struggling to find a book worth my time for a while now. I felt like I had listened to all of the thrillers/psychological dramas out there. Then, this gem came along. This story is more about the drama and pure raw ugliness that lives inside some people. And, just how far people are willing to push their kids for their own selfish needs. It's also a harsh look at the reality of what it means to be a teenager, and the parent to a teenager. Whatever your favorite genre, give this book a chance! It is so worth the time and credit. The only downside was the end. I felt like it could have kept going but was not disappointed.

Extremely underwhelmed...

I am an avid audiobook/reader. I make a lot of my book choices based off of reviews so I felt I should return the favor and warn people about this book in particular. It has really good reviews and seemed really promising. I should have listened to the few negative reviews I read. Sadly, more than half of this book drones on to the point of feeling as if I were watching paint dry. I had to go back more times than I can count just to remind myself of where the droning was going. The last 40 minutes of the book were the only good thing about this whole story. I will admit that I definitely did not see the twist coming; which is typically something I look forward to with this particular genre. However, it wasn't enough to make me feel like my long awaited for credit was worth it. I will be returning this one.

B.A. Paris has done it again!

I can honestly say that the only part of this book I struggled with was, the narrator's voice. The story starts slow but is gripping, just like her other 2 books. I just finished and am about to start it all over again just for fun!

B.A Paris makes words and world's collide!

WOW! WOW! WOW! Did I say, wow, already??? Holy crow this was one of the most amazing books I have ever read or listened to in my entire life. I'm a 39 year old bibliophile that loves all things books/audio! I took a chance on this book trying to break into a new style of writing. I had read amazing reviews about B.A Paris and her spin on telling a tale! I was not disappointed! She is the Queen! She has turned her beautifully written words into a real world that sucks you in completely! I look forward to more!
