Complex, intriguing, bad ending.
Revisado: 12-05-18
I didn't have the download issues others have had, so they must have fixed that. You do have to listen carefully when the chapters change so you understand what time period you're in and who is talking. The story itself was captivating and unwinds like a lovely puzzle coming together as you follow along. I cared very much about the characters and enjoyed getting to know them at their various ages and stages. I guess that's why the ending is so disappointing! The story gains momentum, clues come to light, truths unfold... and with no warning the book ends! if this were an actual book I'd be scrambling back over several chapters to find where I missed the ends being tied together, but that's not easy with an audiobook, so I'm left wondering what happened to so & so, and who got the Blue, and how did that person get the painting...whaaa??
after 20-some hours it would have been nice to have it wrapped up a bit more neatly.

Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Narration sucks

Not sure I can even finish this. The narrator does female voices so poorly I feel like I'm listening to a fairy tale being read aloud.

great plot twist!

I loved this story! the narration was excellent, and the emotion she brought to the story had me close to tears at times.
I love that it's not a typical "happy ending" story, but rather a thoughtful journey that culminates in justice.
I couldn't stop listening.

It was okay.
Revisado: 08-01-18
Interesting in places, often conveniently predictable, the female character drive me crazy with her overthinking and neediness, good idea for a story, but good grief! It was a slog in places.
Maybe too tidy when it was all said and done.

Vapid whining from start to finish.
Revisado: 05-20-18
I was working in a project and needed a story in my ear... this one was torture. The protagonist second guesses herself and is the picture of the helpless female from beginning to end. The ending comes out of nowhere and loose ends are tidily put into place. Really, don't bother

chilling!
Revisado: 01-14-18
I'm a sucker for a good psychological thriller, and this one is almost impossible to put down.
Imogen Church outdoes herself in her performance.
Although it is a teensy bit predicable in places, the narration makes it well worth letting the story unfold.
