WOW
Revisado: 03-18-18
What made the experience of listening to The General's Daughter the most enjoyable?
I had no idea what this story was about when I started. Wow, what a surprise. It definitely kept me interested and the list of suspects made it impossible to get ahead of the story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The General's Daughter?
I did not have an aha! moment.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No
Any additional comments?
Well developed story and characters. I particularly liked the author’s introduction to the book. It was helpful.

Historia
Return to James Lee Burke's "timeless, parallel universe" with detective Dave Robicheaux, as he investigates the murders of two women, tries to prove one man's innocence, and faces an enemy unlike any he has ever known. Gothic, dense, brutal, touching, and always compelling, Jolie Blon's Bounce is classic storytelling from a writer who has been dubbed "the Faulkner of crime fiction."

Repetitive
Revisado: 03-18-18
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The story line was too similar to previous books. Although I had no idea of how the story would play out or would end it was too similar.
Would you be willing to try another book from James Lee Burke? Why or why not?
No, I think I have finally had enough. I have listened to many of Burke’s books. The last several have been heavy on a repetitive theme: southern aristocracy that previously wronged the blacks and have continued to do so. Throw in some gangsters trying to move into the parish and have the descendants of the aristocracy working with the gang. Now a big touch of the supernatural and you have the last several books. I think I have overdosed.
What does Mark Hammer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Hammer does a good job. He does seem to bring the characters to life more than if I was reading the print.
Was Jolie Blon's Bounce worth the listening time?
Not really. As mentioned above it was a repetitive story.
Any additional comments?
I love Purcell! He adds so much to the books!

Answered my questions
Revisado: 03-18-18
What did you love best about Guns, Germs and Steel?
I started with many questions. Why weren’t people of the America’s exploring Europe? Why weren’t peoples of the cradle/origin of civilization exploring the world. This book was recommended and I found it to be great. In fact, the book started with some of the same questions. For a treatise (as opposed to an action novel) I found I could hardly put it down and it definitely provided answers for my questions.
Which character – as performed by Doug Ordunio – was your favorite?
Not applicable.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No but it did excite me with information.
Any additional comments?
The book can be a little redundant as the same points are demonstrated more than once but on these subjects I found the reinforcement to be worthwhile and appropriate. Simply saying it once would not have been as convincing.

Excellent story and performance
Revisado: 03-18-18
If you could sum up Without Remorse in three words, what would they be?
Worth every minute
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Yes. I stayed up too late.
What does Michael Prichard bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Not a fair question. I listen to all my audio books when driving. His reading was excellent.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Both
Any additional comments?
I hesitated to purchase the book after reading reviews about the narrator but wanted the story. The narrator was fine! I will continue to listen my way through the series and will be happy to listen to this narrator again.

Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

Revisionist
Revisado: 08-14-15
Would you try another book from Ken Follett and/or John Lee?
No more from Ken Follett. John Lee was fine. The author revises modern history, eventually exposing his strong leftist slant. An historical novel has all the right to create the 'novel' part but not the history part. That part should be accurate. It also casts doubt on his other historical novels. None of the revisions were necessary for the story or plot, they were just done for his political agenda. I can't believe it was from ignorance! What a waste.
Has Edge of Eternity turned you off from other books in this genre?
Only from the author.
Which character – as performed by John Lee – was your favorite?
He did a great job on all.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment in the author.

Foolish
Revisado: 04-19-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A believable story line would have been a great help. Not only were the events far fetched they were totally illogical. The story was way out in left field and when the team extracted its members one by one while leaving their target to be extracted last, 12 hours later, I gave up and quit listening.
What about Jay Snyder’s performance did you like?
Did a good job.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
No
