I was a huge fan of the BBC mini-series and couldn't help comparing this to that. While there were, naturally, a lot of similar moments, there were also a ton of differences. Specific moments I loved from the mini-series just don't appear here, while there are scenes and characters from the audiobook that are completely absent from the mini-series. One big difference is that Herod plays a much smaller role here than he did on screen. He is still part of the story, but appears far less often and is much less important. Still, the audiobook was great in it's own right and it was a pleasure listening to Derek Jacobi playing Augustus. I will definitely listen to this again.

I was a huge fan of the original comics and the audiobook did not disappoint. The cast is top notch and they bring all the different characters to glorious life. But it is definitely Neil Gaiman's narration that makes this such a masterpiece. His descriptions bring the scenes to life and give you both a sense of dread and wonder. His narration is all original since, obviously, the comic books didn't need them. Even if you had never read Sandman I think you would enjoy this. The descriptions bring it all home and the story is glorious!

I loved this so much! I was always a huge fan of Ash, especially in Army of Darkness. So Bruce Campbell was always a favorite of mine and I loved spotting him in Spiderman or Burn Notice or Hercules. So naturally, when I spotted this I had to get it. I enjoyed all 7+ hours. Hearing about his adventures filming back to back movies in Sofia, Bulgaria. About being a local celebrity following a car accident in Oregon. About meeting and talking to William Shatner, Burt Reynolds, Dick Ward and others. About building a film set on his own property to shoot a small budget film with his own money. About going to Iraq to meet the troops and how he destroyed an M-1 Abrahms. And so much more I could never have guessed. The man has had one hell of an interesting career and life and is still going strong. Keep going, Ash. You're a long from done buddy.
