Twists & Turns

It took a long while to get into the story; a slow burn with twists, turns, and an unexpected and bumpy journey. I found the narration to be particularly difficult to listen to, however. It tended to be on the boring and slow/monotone side of things and I found it very difficult to stay in the story. I enjoy when narrators use different “voices” for characters and neither of the narrators for Brooke or Cass did that. It made the dynamics between various characters feel unbelievable.

Very Eye Opening

Like many of us, I started following the Duggars years ago and have since followed the heartbreaking events that the girls have gone through with their POS brother. I found Jill's memoir to be very eye-opening, vulnerable, honest, and raw. I appreciated her perspective and it really shows that nothing truly is as it seems on TV.

Disappointing.

This was a rouuuuugh listen. I wanted to love this book, and the story has so much potential, but good grief - the protagonist is the most unlikeable character! The entire listening experience was spent listening to her inner monologue talk about how freaking miserable she is. All. The. Time. I found myself rolling my eyes constantly and yes, I'm aware I could've stopped listening at any point, but after you've invested 8+ hours hoping a book will get better - you're committed. Much like the protagonist with her misery.

My five year old son fell in love with this story and we thoroughly enjoyed listening together! I even found myself getting caught up in it!! Fun for all ages!

Incredible!!

This story took me through so many emotions! I felt angry and sad. I cried. I laughed. I was sucked in within the first 3 minutes and was in tears by the end. You will not regret listening to any single second of this incredible journey!!
