Historia
Lieutenant General James Gavin, commander of the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII, is one of the best-known figures of the war. Beginning as the commander of the 505th Parachute Combat Team that spearheaded the American assault on Sicily in July 1943, Gavin advanced to division command and finally command of US forces in Berlin. He kept a wartime diary that starts in April 1943, as the unit was preparing to go to northern Africa and continues through to his final entry on September 1, 1945, during the occupation of Berlin.

Excellent work by Gavin. Narration is horrible
Revisado: 06-10-23
It is absolutely inexcusable for the narrator to not know how to pronounce corner stone geographic locations in the history or the US Army in the Second World War. "Bag stone" is just one example of many.

David Kenyon Webster's memoir is a clear-eyed, emotionally charged chronicle of youth, camaraderie, and the chaos of war. Relying on his own letters home and recollections he penned just after his discharge, Webster gives a firsthand account of life in E Company, 101st Airborne Division, crafting a memoir that resonates with the immediacy of a gripping novel.

This is a book on the most written about rifle company in history. Mispronunciation of names by the narrator is unacceptable.

Historia
Called a great book worthy of a great man, this definitive biography of the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet in World War II is considered the best book ever written about Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. Highly respected by both the civilian and naval communities, Nimitz was sometimes overshadowed by more colorful warriors in the Pacific such as MacArthur and Halsey. Potter's lively and authoritative style fleshes out Admiral Nimitz's personality to help listeners appreciate the contributions he made as the principle architect of Japan's defeat.

Narration was lacking.
Revisado: 04-29-21
A biography of Nimitz should have the Pacific Island names pronounced correctly. Poor quality control on the part of the production team.

Review for audio book
Revisado: 02-17-21
If you are going to narrate a classic of US Army literature it is imperative that you understand basic US Army ranks and billets. “ S-Sgt” is not a rank, “Staff Sgt” is (same with “T” and “M”). Also, the inability to correctly pronounce “Adjutant” is unacceptable if you are going to narrate this work. You know what they say lack of preparation leads to....

If you are going to narrate the man who wrote the quintessential infantry memoir of the Second World War you should get it right. The mispronunciation of “Corpsman” and referring to 3/5 (3rd BN 5th Marines) as “3/5ths” is unacceptable.

Great story by Clancy. Read it years ago. Downloaded audible for long drive, found the reader's "cartoon voices" to be a bit annoying but well worth the time to listen.
