Magnificent Storytelling!
Revisado: 11-25-24
I listened to this one on Audible and loved it! Once again, Samantha Moran's excellent storytelling paired with the vocal talent of Paige Reisenfeld made for a magnificent read. Selena's story was fascinating and I'm eager for the third installment!

Tantalizing novella, phenomenal narration
Revisado: 03-19-24
Just go ahead and do yourself a favor by spending 3 hours with this audiobook. This was so much fun. I was worried it’d be too much for me, I’m not typically a horror person (scooby doo scares me on the wrong night!) but this was beautifully done and un-put-downable!

Historia
Magic is a rare gift that only exists in the bloodlines of the rich, the royal, and the reputable. Dominai of Airedale, a poor hunter and forest guide, is barely one of those things. But after a moonlit encounter with the wizard Allisande, Dominai's life is changed forever. She reveals that Dominai has magic in his lineage, and provides him with a letter of introduction to the Crux, the center of magical study in the Kingdom of Straetham.

The narrator is phenomenal
Revisado: 01-23-24
Narration is 10/10. This is a massive cast of characters and I have a goldfish attention span and I always knew who was speaking. That’s impressive.
The smut is 10/10, too.

Historia
For Líf, her ability to see each person’s guardian spirit had always been a double-edged sword. She hated drawing attention to herself, especially by those who thought her mad, and yearned for a quiet life. That is until another upended her world. This man brought with him the warning of an invisible plague that would destroy their race and claimed that he was the only person who could prevent it, for like Líf, he also had an unexplainable gift. The problem was that he was a slave. And he was not hers to free....

Fantastic story!
Revisado: 01-01-24
This book was phenomenal. Well edited, too, which is one of my hang ups. No overused phrases, the flor was good, the story flowed well.
I loved the detailed historical details of this series. Katharine Wibell should be very proud of her ability to weave culture into her story without bogging down the plot. I learned so much while also remaining emerald in this Norse inspired world.
My only hang up was the audiobook narrator was male, which felt strange for a female dominated story. It wasn’t enough to detract from the star rating, but a female narrator would have suited my vision of the story better.

Fierce main character!
Revisado: 12-06-23
This book was a great listen. The narrator did a stellar job. I think the book itself could have done with a veteran editor, but it might be that I just couldn’t out my editor ears away while listening. The characters were strong, fascinating, and likable, which kept me invested!

The world is no longer safe for the Dragon Rider Murtagh and his dragon, Thorn. An evil king has been toppled, and they are left to face the consequences of the reluctant role they played in his reign of terror. Now they are hated and alone, exiled to the outskirts of society. Throughout the land, hushed voices whisper of brittle ground and a faint scent of brimstone in the air—and Murtagh senses that something wicked lurks in the shadows of Alagaësia. So begins an epic journey into lands both familiar and untraveled.

My first audiobook
Revisado: 12-06-23
This was my first audiobook ever. I got this time of a hardback delivered to my door, thought about the mountain of work I always had to get done and was dismayed. “I’ll forget the beginning by the time I get to the end,” I thought.
So I got this book on Audible as part of a free one month trial and now I’m hooked on audiobooks and got to enjoy this read!
The narration was wonderful. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story itself grew a little bogged down in the final third for me, but ultimately this is a fine addition to the world. I’m excited for whatever the author puts out next!

Historia
Big City is supposedly the place where dreams come true. As someone just trying to live my life, I can tell you it’s more like a recurring nightmare where dreams get c*ckblocked at every turn. Especially if you’re a supervillain like me. The irony is that I have zero powers, despite coming from purebred villain stock, but try telling that to Big City’s beloved hero, Captain Masculine.

The voice actors were fantastic
Revisado: 12-06-23
This story was expertly told and the book was a lot of fun. It didn’t take itself too seriously and I didn’t see what happened coming. The voice actors were wonderful and distinct.
Now for the part of the review that will totally entice folks: I thought this book was a little too smutty for me 😅 I admit to fast forwarding through some scenes because I wanted to know more about the fantastic plot and less about spicy bedroom activities. If you’re into a great plot and a boatload of spice, this is your book!
Ultimately, this is a great listen. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series being on Audible one day.
