Historia
For decades, Amy ran. Through the dirt roads of Amarillo, Texas, where she grew up; to the campus of the University of Virginia, as a student athlete; on the streets of New York, where she built her adult life; through marriage, motherhood, and a thriving career. To outsiders, it all looked, in many ways, perfect. But Amy was running from something—a secret she was keeping not only from her family and friends, but unconsciously from herself. “You’re here, but you’re not here,” her daughter said to her one night. “Where are you, Mom?”

Very interesting to hear about mdma assisted therapy
Revisado: 03-31-25
I did enjoy this book, and the message. It was interesting to hear about the therapy she used to recall repressed memories. I did feel at times the book was dragging, but overall I enjoyed it. She is a powerful women and I am so glad she is sharing her story

Historia
In five years, Jesmyn Ward lost five young men in her life - to drugs, accidents, suicide, and the bad luck that can follow people who live in poverty, particularly Black men. Dealing with these losses, one after another, made Jesmyn ask the question: Why? And as she began to write, she realized the truth - and it took her breath away. Her brother and her friends all died because of who they were and where they were from, because they lived with a history of racism and economic struggle that fostered drug addiction and the dissolution of family and relationships.

This book should have had another narrator.
Revisado: 02-18-25
I didn’t care for this book, and the narrator didn’t help it’s cause. The book was choppy, not super interesting and left something to be desired. Was honestly kind of all over the place.

Revisado: 12-30-24
I knew a little history about Ina and her impressive background before barefoot contessa, but why. How lucky are we to be around during the same time as Ina Garten. This book was amazing, truthful, humbling and even a couple parts where I was cracking up. She tell is like it is, and she does it so well.

I liked this book because Demi truly had an interesting life. She talks about hitting rock bottom and how she dug herself out. Her voice is soothing and it was an easy listen.

Historia
In Dad is Fat, stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan, who’s best known for his legendary riffs on Hot Pockets, bacon, manatees, and McDonald's, expresses all the joys and horrors of life with five young children - everything from cousins ("celebrities for little kids") to toddlers’ communication skills ("they always sound like they have traveled by horseback for hours to deliver important news"), to the eating habits of four-year-olds ("there is no difference between a four-year-old eating a taco and throwing a taco on the floor").

What was the point of this book lol?
Revisado: 07-13-24
I love jim’s standup! I also have kids! I thought this was going to more or a memoir, or have any kind of story line. It was mostly just random babbling about his kids, new york and his wife. It was sweet to hear him talk about his family, but this book was slow and pointless.

Revisado: 05-28-24
This was a great book. It has it all, sex, drugs, money and reality tv. An amazing story of resilience, tenacity and hard work. Mike turned his life around, but the road to get there was long. He never gave up. A story of hope and the power of positivity
