Historia
In this groundbreaking book, one of America's premier religion writers revives ancient expressions through cultural commentary, vulnerable personal narratives, and surprising biblical insights. Both provocative and liberating, Learning to Speak God from Scratch will breathe new life into your spiritual conversations and lure you into the embrace of the God who inhabits them.

Really spoke to me
Revisado: 03-11-20
I wasn't sure what to think about the book since I didn't know the author at all. I had followed him on Instagram for awhile, and finally I listened to the book. It really spoke to me where I am in life. Living through Evangelism then Deconstruction and now something different, I found his approach refreshing. It may be still a little too evangelical for those in post-evangelical world, but I think his experience is important to consider. I am glad the author read it himself. Makes me want to read more of his stuff! Thanks Jonathan for being vunerable, especially with your pain condition. I injured my shoulder at the same time I was reading the book, it spoke to me and i was empathetic to your message because I related (for that brief moment) to his pain.

Acuff knows the reason why many writers' novels go unfinished - it's the same reason why gyms are filled in the first week of January and empty by the end of the month and why people stop learning a new language once they get past the easy parts. It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

I couldn't finish it!

Finished it in 2 days!!!
Revisado: 10-01-17
Jon's whimsical style had me glued to my headset through two commutes and then could not stop and gave up my Friday night to finish it. The news is not new. He isn't making up new things but instead helps the reader to reevaluate the way they approached different issues and presents a fresh tweak. I've been following Jon on line for a short while but never read any of his books until now. I love his personality and honesty and quirky way he approaches life. I look forward to reading his other books. This one has challenged me in ways that I have had issues of being stuck in. There were so many times I wanted to quote him on Facebook but found there were too many good nuggets to do his message justice. So just read or listen to his dang book. It was a quick and fun read and challenged the crap out of me. Going to have to relisten to it to go back over his big ideas. Thanks Jon. Loved it.
