Could not continue listening. Without the visuals and crowd, just doesn’t work for me as an audio only experience.

A pure delight

It was a complete delight listening to Patrick Stewart reading his own book and sharing his life.

It is clear now how complex and full his life has been to date. And, upon completion of his reading, I am even more so looking forward to what he shares with us as his next project.

Excellent production quality and solid story

The story is solid with a good mix of strong characters.

Making it even more enjoyable is the excellent production quality and sound mixing. Absolutely best with a good set of headphones. I was often startled and confused with voices and sounds that I kept is taking as real and not from the headphones. Almost dropped something when someone shouted for ‘my’ attention behind me - but it was part of story.

And of course the narration and cast finished bringing it to life.

What’s with the repeating value reports

Overall light and entertaining. Only issue was the repeated listing of game attributes and their values. Broke the story immersion each time. Would have been better to highlight a few key value changes where and if pertinent to the story.

Potentially a really good podcast but…

This started out very good. But only episode has been released back in mid/early 2021.

With no information if it will continue and when, it is disappointing.

Audible should remove it entirely if it will not be continued. Makes Audible’s attempt to do podcasts look like a failure. I am now inclined not to try any more Audible podcasts until I see that they are finished.

Another formulaic story

While the writing is good and the narration is well done, this turned out to be another formulaic SCI-fi battle scenario.

While they can be enjoyable, there isn’t enough difference here from other series to make it interesting refreshing. It does have a slightly different take in AI at the start but that was never really taken advantage of.

If one can’t get enough of SCI-fi battle/disaster stories, this might be OK. Otherwise it is just another series in a large selection of similar series.

Not your typical Heinlein

While the style itself is typical Heinlein and very enjoyable once you get past the dates attitudes of the time it was written, the story itself took an unexpected tangent that ‘borrowed’ from other stories. I won’t give details as it would be a major spoiler but it rapidly took the pleasure out of hearing the story. I think I understand why this was not originally published.

Luckily the narration is well done and does maintain the Heinlein prose and period so I was able to make it to the end.

Total musical joyride

Was actually anticipating something aimed at a very young listener. But due to the easy style, excellent use of music accents and examples, some simple but constantly moving plot lines and a totally excellent if voices and production quality, I hated the few times I actually had to quit listening.

Easy to listen too, completely immersive. Would love to hear more productions like this!

real science fiction - lots of it!

It seems that there are tons of series in science fiction many of which are space battle or end of the world type scenarios. While many of those are good, they tend to build up one universe and then 'just' inhabit it with people with apparently similar stories. While there is a lot of work that goes into those, they tend to be limited in scope.

On the other hand, this book has over 100 stories from Arthur C Clarke. Instead of being build no the same future world, each one tends to be unique and full of vision. The stories range in length but it is totally amazing the breadth of the imagination of this one master of Science Fiction.

In addition to the huge variety of stories, each ones well written and holds up remarkably well over the decades.

Then you add the narrators - each of them does an excellent job on the individual stories they read.

This is a must listen for anyone who loves Science Fiction.

I am only ½ through (21 hours still to go) and still enjoying it no end! Which is obviously as I am writing a positive review even before I am done.

Excellent work - appreciate the gathering of all of them into the audio format with narrators that know how to bring a story up to life.

Wonderful nostalgic radio theatre

The collection of radio dramatizations of different stories, many taken from the SCI-fi mags of the time was really fun to listen too.
The range of stories was very diverse and mostly reflective of their time. And the radio dramatization added flavor and drama. Makes one wonder how much we have up when society moved from radio to TV to the next thing.
