Devastating at times but beautiful narration and captivating story!
Revisado: 02-12-24
Hated having to arrive at my destinations because I was on the edge of my seat throughout! It is devastating in parts and you will yell and maybe say an expletive here and there but the narration was spotless and easy to listen to and the story was engaging! I will definitely look for more by this author!

Where is the ending?
Revisado: 01-09-23
I actually thought I missed a section because there was no conclusion…then I realized that was it..what a disappointing ending! I had it figured out half through and as a reporter could not believe the character did not realize “whodunnit”. It did not keep my attention..not one I would recommend. I drifted a lot through it. Sad I wasted a credit on this.

Historia
Charlie Reade looks like a regular high school kid, great at baseball and football, a decent student. But he carries a heavy load. His mom was killed in a horrific accident when he was seven, and grief drove his dad to drink. Charlie learned how to take care of himself—and his dad. When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Sometimes strange sounds emerge from that shed.

Worth the Wait!! King did not disappoint!
Revisado: 10-10-22
The title details do not give justice to this epic tale! This is an epic adventure that will appeal to diverse audiences! Do not expect the horror you may come to expect from King but this is along the lines of some of his other greats including The Green Mile and Stand by Me. I would make excuses to go for a drive to see what would happen next! His imagery makes you feel like you are on the adventures with the title character discovering this strange world..full of good and evil! I had read almost every Stephen King novel and this is now in the top three of all-time! The narration is spot on and he truly had a gift for voices! Easy to listen to and perfect characterization! Do not hesitate adding this to your collection..even if you have never read King..you will love this!

Historia
The history of selling sex is a hidden one—and too often its practitioners are pushed to the margins of history. This book redresses the balance, revealing the history of the sex trade through the eyes of sex workers, from medieval streets to Wild West saloons, and from brothels to state bedrooms. Lister invites listeners to reconsider everything they thought they knew about the world's oldest profession. Together, these tales of sex workers from around the world and throughout history provide a powerful context to contemporary debates about sexuality and the empowerment of women.

Very interesting topic just a little dry..
Revisado: 09-12-22
I was very excited to delve into this book and learn the history behind “the oldest profession” but I felt the author was so focused on dates and times and the legal actions she missed the human interest focus and it was very dry. My mind wandered while listening and honestly was bored several times with the repeating of dates, legal action, etc. Based on the summary, I was looking for more day to day stories and insight into the lives of these women through the years. Very thorough and interesting though and great historical information!

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Had so much potential but came up short..
Revisado: 08-24-22
At first, I was mesmerized by the narrator and the first story caught my attention but then it was hit and miss and honestly I got very bored. Not a “scary” tale at all…the ending still leaves a lot of unanswered questions. I actually fast forwarded through a couple stories and it didn’t affect the end..so don’t worry if you have to do the same. The narrator was the best part!

I kept waiting for it to get better…still waiting!
Revisado: 08-08-22
I do not normally leave negative reviews but I was truly disappointed with this book. The narration was good and she did well with presenting the story but the overall story itself was boring! I kept waiting for the climax or some twist or turn, but it never happened. Thankfully it was free, and I see why!

Strong beginning then lost some momentum
Revisado: 04-28-22
From the beginning, this book held my attention and I was completely enraptured! I had grown to understand and love the characters and couldn’t stop listening to see what came next. I have listened to her other books and truly enjoyed the history and character development. About halfway through, she jumps time frame and that is where the story loses its grip. I kept waiting for it to go back..but it never did..and the author went off track from the main storyline into the new characters and it lost the mystery and appeal. I loved the first half and the end but could have skipped over the “modern day” narrative.

Yawn….
Revisado: 04-07-22
Had high hopes based on the predecessor, but this did not live up to them. I kept waiting for any light or funny moments or even some clenching mystery…but it was drawn out and frankly boring. Same storyline over and over..and no definitive ending. Felt like a waste of time but I was hoping it would get better! The narration was good and easy to listen to, just needed more content to make it worth the time.

Great Tale except for the Narrator
Revisado: 03-25-22
The narration in the beginning almost made me shelf this book. I am glad I stuck through because it was impressive and kept my attention! The narrator is so choppy in parts instead of a consistent dialogue that it makes it difficult to get the context. Will read more of hers but maybe with a different narrator!
