Danger 5 Revisited (in Stereo!)

For fans of the show! I watched the show and loved every minute of it. So I was glad that I found that this podcast existed. It was a trip down memory lane. And while the show’s visuals worked to amplify the comedy, that’s really the only things missing from this. The fact that this is a stereo adventure might make some people feel like it’s missing something, the something being the visual gags, but if you’re a loyal fan of the show, you won’t let this shortcoming affect your enjoyment. I didn’t. I loved the show. I liked this. I’m glad it exists. Now more please!

Alien 2 & 1/2

Picks up where Alien 2 leaves off (that’s why they give you a recap in the first 5 minutes). You’ll like it if you’re a diehard Alien fan. But be aware there’s a lack of Ridley. It’s basically the Hicks and Bishop show. Either way enjoyable to listen to. Very immersive. B -

A Perfect Book

There are only 2 books that I would call perfect for what they made me feel. The first is To Kill a Mockingbird and the second one is this one. A beautiful work of art. Believe the hype and read it, and then maybe when you’re done you will begin your quest for your own personal legend.

Good book / Good narration

Don’t know why all the complaints. William hurt is one of my favorite actors. With his voice exemplifying British gravitas and American humility, this audiobook was a success to me. He did a good job and the story of “the lost generation” really resounded with me. But hey, it’s Hemingway, you could do a lot worse. A++

Some Issues / Great Book!

The audio could have been better and there was an issue with 2 diary entries. 1 is shifted to a later date (this is more an issue with the printed book) and 1 is entirely omitted (present in the book, not in the audiobook). While the audio did have issues, it didn’t take away from this powerful book which should be read by everybody. I loved this!

Four Your Information (info on translation)

I recently decided to read this because I just watched eyes wide shut. And the copy of the book that I have is translated by J. M. Q. Davies. I listen to audiobooks to help with my concentration but I also follow along in the book while I listen. If you just listening then this shouldn’t be a problem but if you’re reading along, then now you know who the translator IS NOT. They do the Audible introduction in German and they just tell you the title, the author, the narrator, and then they begin so I honestly can’t tell you who the translator is. But for those interested, it is NOT JMQ Davies.

A classic with a great narrator!

Great book with a wonderful translation as well as a glossary of terms which should add insight and cure anyone’s confusion. The narrator did a great job! A++

Great Narrator (includes ch. 21)

Tom Hollander does this novella justice and is a really great narrator. 10/10 would recommend. This version also includes chapter 21 which was left out of the initial American release and which gives Alex a more realistic and profound ending. A ++

Live Recordings

This is a collection of poetry by Ginsberg and the only thing to redeem the lacking audio quality is that you get to hear Ginsberg read his own poetry. (Which is always better, the author reading his own work) Howl has good audio quality but the other poems are of a lesser quality. But overall, really fun to listen to Ginsberg’s performance.
