Historia
Charles Paris - unsuccessful actor, bad husband, and dipsomaniac - is back, and getting into trouble once more. As he tries to woo back his semi-detached wife, Frances, and land a few half-decent roles, he finds himself embroiled in murder and mayhem and forced to turn detective. Luckily, his sleuthing is much better than his acting.

Light hearted drama

It ticks all the boxes for me. Great radio acting with enjoyable story lines. This is not plausible drama, it’s pure entertainment, and I was entertained. I can’t imagine another voice for Charles Paris than Bill Nighy. Hits the spot.

Historia
In the 1920s, in post - World War I England, the Honorable Daisy Dalrymple, newly engaged to Detective Inspector Alec Fletcher, is asked by her brother-in-law to discreetly investigate a series of poisoned pen letters that many of the local villagers have been receiving. When the pompous and unbearable brother of the local vicar is killed by a very large rock, dropped on his head from a great height, it seems clear to all that this campaign of gossip has escalated to murder.

Decent stories
Revisado: 08-11-21
The stories are fairly interesting, not top notch detective stories, but interesting story lines and characters - sometimes a little bit too much irrelevant information .What's really annoying is the mispronunciation of place names and certain words that are not pronounced in the English English but in American English. Certain words like 'shone' give the game away entirely. It spoils what would otherwise be a creditable audible performance. There really is no excuse for pronouncing Gloucester 'glowster' or Reading 'reading'.
