Melodramatic
Revisado: 06-27-16
Yes--over the top in its convoluted plot. Not a book that taught me much that is new or provoked in me deep thoughts. But I thoroughly enjoyed it and was often surprised by its twists and turns.

A bit predictable
Revisado: 06-25-16
I really enjoy Picoult's books, as I did this one. But it just had everything, and I knew what was going to happen. It worked a little bit too well. Good story, though no real resolution of anything about which society argues.

Historia
At times stern, at other times patient, at times perceptive, at other times in sad denial, Olive Kitteridge, a retired schoolteacher, deplores the changes in her little town and in the world at large, but she doesn't always recognize the changes in those around her.

Only for us of a certain age!
Revisado: 06-23-16
I had a little difficulty following some of the changes in characters and story line, partly because I listened to the book and didn't have the visual cues of chapter breaks. At first the writing style seemed a little choppy. I'm not sure why the book is titled as it is--but I guess all the other characters serve to help the reader understand Olive. Overall, the book seems to be a comment on aging. A developmental process. A pugnacious, perspicacious comment!

Not worth the time....
Revisado: 08-11-14
Would you try another book from Melody Carlson and/or the narrator?
I don't find the story line compelling--I find it slow-moving, predictable, and I'm learning absolutely nothing. It seems there would be room to learn about renovating an old house, relationships, cooking--but I'm quitting. There is nothing.
What was most disappointing about Melody Carlson’s story?
There is nothing compelling about any of the characters, the plot, the setting.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
There seemed to be no heart in the reading.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The idea was a good one--the reason I have the book.
Any additional comments?
I'd love to return this book.....
