Great!
Revisado: 02-12-21
Only reason I put 4 stars instead of 5 on performance is because the narrator was different from the first book and took 2 very different personality voices for Cal and Gage. I would have over looked dropping the New York accent on Leila if that was the only major change. But Cal and Gage had me distracted and took away a little from the story. Marie did a really solid job other then that.

Historia
Arriving at the new government bunker, things quickly go from bad to worse. I am separated from Finn and my family because of my ability to connect with Arvies through telepathy. Housed with three other readers - and kept away from the general population - we are given serum injections in an effort to enhance our thought transference. The end goal? Thought manipulation.

Great continuation, but change of narrator
Revisado: 08-23-18
I enjoyed Erin Moon as the narrator for the books. Rachel Simpson did a good job on her own, but I feel she gave the reoccurring characters her own spin rather then trying to keep it similar. Overall I can’t say she did a bad job, in a different book or series I’m sure I would enjoy her take on the book. I just got super annoyed at her choice of voice for Abby’s dad. He is supposed to be a carrying and strong leader and I just couldn’t get past his voice in this book. When he wasn’t in the scene I was completely fine with her performance, but every time he spoke I would cringe.

Was hoping for more
Revisado: 10-25-15
The first part was pretty good and had potential, but the build up to the big fight ended up being a small war of words. They focused on the mental workings of Cain, Without much attention to the fight. Anyone who has played the games know Cain isnt a fighter so I was waiting for a hero to come.

J.K. Rowling is back! So glad this is a series!
Revisado: 11-17-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Completely! I started this book then went on a trip with my friend who started listening with me. Since we couldn't finish the book on the trip she had to purchase the audiobook when she got home to finish it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I loved Cormoran Strike! Such a rich character that I can't wait to see more of in future series. I also really enjoyed the chemistry between Cormoran and his secretary Robin.
Which character – as performed by Robert Glenister – was your favorite?
I can't say I have a favorite character due to his performance but I was very much impressed with his reading. I think he did a great job with every character. Both my friend and I agreed that even though the book would still be a great read Glenister brought a extra dimension to the story that made it an even better book.
Any additional comments?
I wasn't interested in J.K. Rowling's book A Casual Vacancy, but this one I really wanted to check out. I am a huge Harry Potter fan and was glad she came out in the mystery/thriller genre. (my 2 favorite genres are Sci-fi/Paranormal and Mystery/Thriller) She did not disappoint me with this book. I always loved how she created and brought characters to life through her words in the Potter series, and here is no different.

Could not stop listening!!!
Revisado: 11-17-13
What made the experience of listening to The Rook the most enjoyable?
Susan Duerden did an amazing job bringing this story to life. She brought the dramatics when need be and just made good choices in how she shared this story.
What did you like best about this story?
This was such a unique storyline and I just wanted to keep learning about Myfanwy and what was happening to her and her job.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book made me laugh the most, but it did get me to tear up a bit. This story is pretty serious but O'Malley brought great characters and some entertaining fun moments.
Any additional comments?
I definitely recommend this book. I never heard of this book until I was skimming through some ideas for Paranormal books and this one caught my eye and I'm glad it did! I'll definitely be looking out for more Daniel O'Malley books!

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Great Starter to the Series
Revisado: 11-17-13
Would you listen to A Game of Thrones again? Why?
Only if I wanted to look back at how certain things happened, this first book was very depressing but it did a good job in setting up the series.
What does Roy Dotrice bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Dotrice did an amazing job in finding different voices for each character and giving a personality to each one, so even if the voices are similar in a couple characters you can tell which one it is by there pronunciation. For example Arya and Sansa who are sisters have the same accent and similar voices since Sansa is more reserved and lady like Dotrice reads Arya's voice different since she is more into being with the boys and riding horses and it shows in the way he reads. He definitely added to the experience of this book for me.
