Jodi Taylor Rules!

This compilation of Jodi's short stories in the world of 'The Chronicles of St. Mary's' is wonderful! Some people have complained because they 'didn't know' it was a compilation and not a brand new story (a new short story is included at the end), but this information was everywhere, and it is so unfair to dock such a talented and funny author because these people didn't read. Jodi Taylor deserves nothing less than 5 stars, as does the wonderful reading by Zara Ramm.

Best Jane Yellowrock Story Yet!

Jane has a clan, her own Yellowrock clan of "family." Her amazement at this fact, that she is loved, is wonderful to read. The action is almost non-stop, as more and more information regarding the European Vamps and their goals is revealed, and more and more danger must be avoided. Jane and Beast become closer, and Beast more and more of an intelligent entity. There is just so much to read and ponder, and I find an Audible book helpful in revealing tidbits that my frenzied e-book reading missed! This is THE BEST series I've found in Urban Fantasy. And Cold Reign is a fantastic story, read by the talented Khristine Hvam!

What an Addictive Series!

Would you consider the audio edition of Just One Damned Thing After Another to be better than the print version?

Only in that Zara Ramm has such a nifty British accent, that highlights the matching words (dustbin rather than garbage can, etc.) It's the story that's the main thing!

Who was your favorite character and why?

The heroine, Max.The stories are from her point of view, and she's a plucky, intelligent, brave woman. It's truly amazing how she bounces back from every adversity!

Which scene was your favorite?

When she went back to the Cretaceous Period. Scary!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definitely! I've listened to it and the entire series (which I also bought) twice, and am about to dive back in for a 3rd time. I've never done that before, with any book, let alone a series!

Any additional comments?

I can't stress how wonderful this entire series is. I would highly recommend every single one!

Wonderful story; fell asleep during the narration

Would you listen to Magic Stars again? Why?

No, but I'd sure read it as an ebook. The narrator's voice was great, but the straight reading with little inflection nearly put me to sleep!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Love Julie. She's a kick-ass heroine in the making.

What three words best describe Jeffrey Kafer’s voice?

Sexy, seductive, monotone.

Best Story Yet!

What made the experience of listening to Dark Heir the most enjoyable?

Khristine Hvam's reading. It's a top-notch story, and I've already read it twice on my Kindle, but Khristine's superb reading has persuaded me to buy ALL of Faith Hunter's Audible books.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jane Yellowrock, of course! She's matured so much, learned to "play nice" with others, and melded more and more with Beast. Great character!

Have you listened to any of Khristine Hvam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just as I knew it would; a wonderful reading.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Jane realized she had a "family."

I'd never purchased any Audible books before Faith's. Now I have all her Jane Yellowrock books and have branched out into other author's books. But none of the readings have been as good as Khristine Hvam's are. She makes the voices different and puts feeling into her performances.

Great Story; Reading is So-So

Would you listen to Sleight of Hand again? Why?

I will be re-reading the story, but don't care to listen to it again. The first part was read so woodenly that I almost stopped listening altogether! Not happy with Kimberly Henrie's work here, sadly.

What did you like best about this story?

I like stories with kick-ass heroines. Amber Farrell was post-military, now a PI, and bitten by vampires ... whoops ... by "Athanate", and had certain abilities as a result. Great series!

What three words best describe Kimberly Henrie’s voice?

In the beginning, wooden, wooden, wooden. By section 9 (of 56) it's warmed up a bit, but I really almost didn't continue listening. I will finish now; she has a very pleasant voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me want to read every story in the series!

Good author, good series. I highly recommend both!

Narrator Isn't Best for Samantha Moon's Voice!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The narrator, Sylvia Roldan Dohi, just ISN'T Samantha Moon's voice; very wussy compared to Diana Pearlman, prior narrator.

Would you be willing to try another one of Sylvia Roldán Dohi’s performances?

No. Unfortunately ... just no.

Did Vampire Gold inspire you to do anything?

To only read the ebook, and forget listening to the audible recording.

Any additional comments?

The narrator's voice makes a big difference in a person's enjoyment of a audible book. Unfortunately this narrator's voice doesn't change that much for different characters, and is just plain wussy for the main character. Also, the story wasn't nearly as engrossing as the others I've read.
