Yeats, Music to the Mind and Soul

The narrator, after Down by theSalley Garden catches the spirit of Yeats and does a wonderful job of it. It could have only 2 things better. The first a downloadable list of the poems in order narrated, (I guess I will just have to do that myself.) The second, Down by the Salley Gardens seems a little stilted, but maybe that is just my ear. I have played Down by the Salley Gardens so many times on my tin whistle that the way the narrator spoke it and how I hear it in my mind clashed. Even with that, if you like Yeats, you will love this recording. I have a feeling that the CD I burnt of this will be replayed many times. It is just music to the mind and soul.

Stephen Fry maybe very good but

Stephen Fry may be very good but I am very glad that I got it a couple of years ago narrated by Douglas Adams. The older version deserves the 5 stars.

It rings true

The recording is great but I must suggest that a person also borrow or buy the book. The references in the back of the book to real studies and real research are eye openers. Some of the references were so interesting that they delayed some of my listening of the book.

Anthem is an often re-listen

Anthem is one of the most beautiful novellas that I have ever read or heard. Reading the novella, you can feel the struggle, the turmoil, and the character growth. Listening to the novella, the beauty and the near poetry come forward. I found myself backspacing often, just to re-enjoy the power and the beauty of particular sections. This novella will be an often re-listen!

The New Spider is not a new Heinlein

"Callahan's Key" is about as far from a Heinlein tale is you can get. Heinlein dealt with the individualist. Spider in this book became very political and 'Green'. His characters formed committees to work on problems. Heinlein characters felt that committees were creatures with many legs and no brains. This is too bad since the early Callahan tales in Analog had such potential.

Fantastic

To see the miserable world of a child growing in extreme poverty in Ireland through a child's eye and with a child logic is a real gift. You feel the hope and see it smashed over and over again. But you also see the child grow and you cheer inside for him. This is one of the best books that I have ever found.

Wisconsinite's Review

Being from Wisconsin, I noticed there were a few minor differences in the way police and legal system is really organized how it is presented in the book. But these differences did not detract from the story in the slightest. Stephen King captured much of the beauty of western Wisconsin and his character development was fantastic. The tales so captured me that now I am into rereading the Talisman and the Dark Tower series.

Salem's Lot -- Memories revisited

I read Salem's Lot when it first came out in paperback many, many years ago. Audible's reading of this book brought back all the wonder, the great character development, and just plain great storytelling of Salem's Lot. Thank you Stephen King for a great book and thank you Audible for bringing it back to me.

Heinlein at his best

This reading of "Time Enough For Love" brought back all the wonder and beauty that I experienced when I first read it back in the seventies. Heinlein sees beauty in the love of life and in the zest for life. A must book for any science-fiction fan.
