Maybe It's Just Me

Obviously, I'm reading/listening to this title for a reason. The information here is definitely good and I will try to put it into place. The narration is what kills this for me. The delivery is pretty flat except when he voices the example feelings or inner talk of the person looking for help through CBT. His voice becomes higher and frankly whiny. I was kind of angered by it. It felt belittling and that's not what I need at this moment. Ah well... let's just write it off as more distorted thinking.

Not quite a romance....

First, let me say that I enjoyed this book very much. I listened to it compulsively every chance I had until it was done. With that said, this book has more of a dark air to it than I was lead to believe from the blurb provided by Audible. It has humor and a bit of romance but it also deals with murder, suicide, madness, robbery, coercion, and attempted rape. Subjects that could actually be triggering. This one is not lighthearted.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This is a difficult book to listen to. Perhaps the rating could have been higher if the author would have gotten to the point and stopped plugging herself over and over again.
Has The Hunger Fix turned you off from other books in this genre?
I will definitely be more cautious about choosing this type of audible book. I will seriously read and consider the certified purchase reviews on Amazon!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The constant plugging of personal credentials and the repetition of words just killed it for me. After awhile, I didn't even care if there might be useful information at some point, I just couldn't listen anymore.
