Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Liked the story but…
Revisado: 09-05-23
The story was creative and exciting. The characters experience adventure in a dragon and magical world. I didn’t mind the female narrator like so many have pointed out but was totally thrown off when the book transitioned to the male. He sounded like a California surfer and totally threw off my ability to listen at the end of the book. There are also parts of the book that were soft porn. I’m glad it has a warning at the beginning. It would NOT be appropriate for teens and I could see kids and teens being attracted to the story given the subject matter. Other than that - fun read.

Historia
Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity. But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me. Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

Reminiscent of the Wonder years, this is a story about a 7th grade boy growing up in the early 60's. His relationship with his teacher, historical events and the challenges of being a kid in Junior High all all covered in this warm and engaging and funny story. Highly recommend for adults and middle schoolers alike!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a story about a socially inept, professor and his process of self discovery as he attempts a relationship with a woman. I actually laughed out loud at several points in the book and fell in love with the sweet and often clueless main character. It was a light, fun, and endearing read! Highly recommend!

This book made me think!
Revisado: 01-31-16
I really enjoyed this book. A story about a prosecutor whose son is on trial for murder, the book explores interesting themes about nature versus nurture, what makes a "good" parent, the imperfections of the judicial system and complex family roles/dynamics. I'm glad I spent my credit on this one and would recommend to other readers.

Tally lives in a world where your 16th birthday brings aesthetic perfection: an operation that erases all your flaws, transforming you from an "Ugly" into a "Pretty". She is on the eve of this important event and cannot wait for her life to change. As well as guaranteeing supermodel looks, life as a Pretty seems to revolve around having a good time. But then she meets Shay, who is also 15 - but with a very different outlook on life.

Interesting concept not fully materialized
Revisado: 09-09-15
This book was suggested to me several times by audible based on my reading history. While the concept of a future society where all must look "pretty" was an interesting concept, I was frustrated that the story did not come to a clear resolution at the end. Clearly the story is written to force the reader to buy the next in the series. There were points at which I was caught up with the characters and others where I could take it or leave it. This is not a page turner but did the job as a decent book to listen to in the car. Overall a so-so review.
