Flat
Revisado: 04-04-22
The narrator had a boring tone throughout the book.
The story was interesting but the pace was as dull and annoying as the main character.
The ending was cutoff abruptly with the hope that it would be intriguing enough to make the reader want to buy the next book. It wasn't.

Historia
When 49-year-old Belladonna Barrone’s mobbed-up husband does her the favor of dying in a car accident, she thinks she’s finally free of the crime family she unwittingly married into. Then the boss tells her that she has to complete her husband’s last job before that freedom is truly hers. No big deal, she figures. Until things go south in ways she never imagined. Suddenly she’s thrust into a whole new world that makes the mob look like kindergarten. Vampires and werewolves are real? How is that freaking possible?

Story was not so good. Performance ruined it more.
Revisado: 08-28-20
Performance was staccato. Every sentence was inflected the same as the last which made it monotonous and boring. The middle was slow. Some of the plot was interesting but not enough that I would listen to the next book of the series.

Historia
Based on seven years of ground-breaking research and hundreds of interviews, I Thought It Was Just Me shines a long-overdue light on an important truth: Our imperfections are what connect us to each other and to our humanity. Our vulnerabilities are not weaknesses; they are powerful reminders to keep our hearts and minds open to the reality that we're all in this together.

The Self Help book that is NOT
Revisado: 01-20-19
This book was written for the author to hear herself think out loud. She drones on and on about how she is going to give tips later in the book but the reality is that it never comes....well, at least it never comes in the first 10 hours of listening since I quit. That means I listened to all but 42 minutes of the book. Please note that the book is 10 hours 44 minutes.

Adam's Voice
Revisado: 03-11-17
I'm not impressed with Adam's voice. The voice didn't care. He didn't convey rage and Adam has a lot of rage. i felt as though the voice actor was going through the motion and only waiting for the paycheck when the job was done.

The story was just OK. The narration was whiney to the point that I almost didn't finish the book. I was glad when I finished it.

Porn with a decent plot
Revisado: 04-29-16
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
People who like porn
What was most disappointing about Lynda Hilburn’s story?
The plot was decent but the graphic sex was unnecessary and detracted from the story.
Would you be willing to try another one of Hillary Huber’s performances?
No.
What character would you cut from The Vampire Shrink?
Most of the men that the main character made goo goo eye's over.
Any additional comments?
The narrator was flat and had a boring tone. Yes, the character was a bit flat but the narration was too much in that direction.

Most Enjoyable
Revisado: 07-10-12
What made the experience of listening to The Golden Lily the most enjoyable?
The reader was excellent. Each character had a distinctive voice. You can "see" the characters in your mind by listening to the narration.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Adrian. He is both frustrating and likable. Plus he is discovering who he is. It's a journey that everyone must take.
What about Emily Shaffer’s performance did you like?
Absolutely. All of her voices are amazing.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
Great series. I'm looking forward to the rest. I just wish that it would be less than a year before the next is available.

Great Read!
Revisado: 04-21-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
All Sime/Gen fans should read this story. I've always wanted to understand more about Channel training and this is it. On top, this is a love story that is sweet without being graphic. My kind of story.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Personal Recognizance?
At the end when the Farris channel understand the purpose of Vret actions. If I tell more, it will give the story away.
Which scene was your favorite?
The Qualifying scene of Vret was my favorite.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It wasn't that kind of book. It did give me pride. Feelings that were evoke from the success of efforts of the main character, Vret.
Any additional comments?
One of the best narrator's I've heard. He had great inflection and dramatic pausing which is how I would have read the book. The only down was that he didn't know how to pronounce a few of the special Sime/Gen words. That I can forgive when the listening was so intensely pleasurable.
