The story is solid but a little predictable. The author over tells the story with too many interpretations for "picturing" moments. I was getting frustrated with the breaks in the narrative.

Good story but Characters lack autenticity

I struggled to finish this one. Lottie is a mess, Boyd is an idiot who never thinks an obvious clue is anything to follow up, and the superintendent doesn't care at all about solving crime, only yelling anything anyone who does. I lf these characters worked in a real police station the criminals would love it!

Too much of the wrong content

Pretty dull as Orphan X books go. The author spends so much time adding exhausting detail to insignificant things that there isn't enough room left for an engaging story. I found myself skipping ahead a lot trying to find something interesting. I kept waiting for something big to happen but it never did. I was disappointed, but also glad it was over.

I read this right after the first in the series, which I really enjoyed. This was not nearly as interesting and was a big change in pace from the first (not in a good way). Hopefully if there is a third book it will be much more like the first.
