What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
This sounds exactly like a computerized voice reading Wikipedia entries. There are much better options for this material.
What was most disappointing about Charles River Editors’s story?
Stultifying content that turned an exciting story into a ponderous slog.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I do not believe the narrator was a human.

A masterful look at the origins of World War I

An excellent analysis of the origins of World War I and Austria's shockingly incompetent conduct of the war in the early years. Two minus stars for the author's reading of his own work, he has passion but lacks the polish of a professional narrator.
