Historia
On Mother's Day, 1985, the bodies of Kathryn Eastburn and her two young daughters were found in their Fayetteville, North Carolina, home. Katie, an air force captain's wife, had been raped and stabbed to death. Kara and Erin's throats had been slit. Their toddler sister, Jana, was the only survivor. The Cumberland County Sheriff's Department soon focused its investigation on US Army soldier Tim Hennis. Detectives and local prosecutors built their case on circumstantial evidence and a jury convicted Hennis and sentenced him to death. But his defense team refused to give up.

A Monster Finally Caught
Revisado: 10-28-19
The author asks a question that I can answer, Tim Hennis; he is the person that sleeps at night after cutting the throat of two babies. The writer was very sympathetic to a mass-murdering, rapist & baby killer. It fills me with rage, an eye witness who was able to give a good description of the offender, an offender who had been to that home and got a dog from this unfortunate family got released from prison. Why was this eyewitnesses testimony dismissed? And some women who only came forward much later believed? This murderer got to live his life with his child & wife even going on to have more children while two babies and their mother never got that privilege. I don't know how the lawyers, jurors or his family sleep at night after having made every effort to free a very sick individual — my sympathies to Gary and Jana. I found the book slightly frustrating in the tone it took towards a monster as if he was the victim. The victims are Kathryn, Kara, Erin, Gary and Jana Eastburn. His lawyers even advised him to get out of the Army they must have known the evil that they released Tim Hennis would face justice one day, he was just too arrogant to think he would be accountable.

Enjoyed very much!
Revisado: 07-27-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Faithful to be better than the print version?
I only listen to audible, don't have time to read.
What other book might you compare The Faithful to and why?
I don't think I have read one I can recall that had a similar theme.
What about Tanya Eby’s performance did you like?
She is a good narrator, with a pleasent voice which is easy to listen too and understand.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It is not that type of bad but I enjoyed listening to it.
Any additional comments?
This old codger loved it, I found the storyline really interesting and much better then I was actually expecting, not many books engage me from the start at least not since Blake Crouchs Pines Series or Mark Tufo Zombie Fallout but this one grabbed and held my attention. Can't wait to read the next offering.

Horror Story and shocking to think this happened in modern day Britain.
Revisado: 08-13-15
This was not a story I had heard about in Australia although I had heard the case of the first white honour killing so doubly shocking that such horror was experienced by this one family.
The story was personal, sensitive and without prejudice that in itself highlights the remarkable nature and strength of this survivor and her mum and sister.
The narrator did a fantastic job of telling this true event through the eyes of the author who had to experience this awful abuse at such a young age.

A real nerve wracking read.
Revisado: 07-02-14
What made the experience of listening to Pines the most enjoyable?
Pines, had a great story and plot, it kept you guessing right to the end, I have not been so- on-the-edge of my seat with a good book for a long time.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Pines?
I am so glad I stumbled across Pines, I had purchased it for the full price but see it is on special at the moment, you would be mad to not snap up a great read for that small price. Back to the topic, there were many memorable moments but one that had the adrenalin pumping was when Ethan was about to be wheeled in for surgery and Bev rescued him just in time, he had been given the injection and was due to pass out any second as they struggled to elude Nurse Pam. They had to try and escape from a place where there is no escape and they are under surveillance at all times. It got quite scary.
Have you listened to any of Paul Michael Garcia’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Have not listened to any before but will be listening to book 2 of this series and have pre-ordered book 3. He did a great job of narrating this story.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It all moved me as it was a fascinating book to listen to, I got the e version for my girls to read.
Any additional comments?
I think I have found my new favourite auther, it is a great read as it encompasses so much, mystery, sciencefiction, horror, thriller, spy and crime. A book that has it all, I look forward to reading book two and can't wait to see what that brings to the table.

All 3 Gina Damico Books are FABULOUS.
Revisado: 09-22-13
What did you love best about Croak?
Hmm that is hard I loved the story line and the different spin from the one I have always associated with reapers which made it way more interesting. The narrator is simply amazing and pulls all 3 books of with such aplomb you almost forget she is not the author or the actual character.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Croak?
I can't choose just one, because the whole book in fact all 3 were memorable. I can't believe one of the reviews went MEH and only gave it one or two stars, was she oxygen deprived when she was listening to this book.
What does Jessica Almasy bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Jessica brings these books alive, I have certainly become a Jessica Almasy groupie and intend to stalk every other audio book she has read. I pray they are all as good as Nancy Damico's wonderful stories. Jessica pulls of ever character in the book flawlessly.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
If you loved Dead like Me you will love seeing the amazing Croak, Scorch and Rogue bought to life on our screens.
Any additional comments?
I hope and pray there is a 4th book in the pipeline. I think this young author has done a brilliant job, she is funny, imaginative and she hooks you in from page one. Please don't let anyone other then the amazing Jessica Almasy read them.

My favourite book in years.
Revisado: 05-13-13
If you could sum up Zombie Fallout in three words, what would they be?
A Must Read.
What other book might you compare Zombie Fallout to and why?
I can't compare it to any other Zombie Book as this was my first Zombie Story, I purchased the first series as audible had a special and thought I would give it a try. I absolutely fell in love with the book and the Talbot family and read the next 5 books of the series in quick succession. After reading number 6 and reaching the end of the series, I felt like I had lost a member of the family as there is no series 7 on the horizon. I actually emailed the author to beg for another Zombie Fallout book but was told that he had no plans for one anytime soon. Totally devastated, how can he let us fall in love with this family only to take them away. I have not enjoyed a book so much in years.
What does Sean Runnette bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Sean was brilliant, I am really fussy with narrators, and tend to prefer the UK readers as I sometimes find the US ones can be too TV Soap and sometimes just plain mind numbingly bad, when you find a good one though they are fantastic. When I first started listening to Sean I was a bit wary as I don't warm very quickly to the narrators, but it did not take long at all to view Sean as Mike Talbot and I think he really bought Mark's story to life. If this was made into a movie or TV series I would want the part of Mike to go to Sean as he is Mike Talbot to me, he knows every part of his character and does him to perfection. He also brings his talent to the other characters in the book and you get a real sense of them individually, you know each one and they remain separate, they don't blend it to each other as they sometimes do in other books I have read.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Most definitely! I would listen every spare moment I got and would turn up at work listening to it, and my colleagues would be saying hello and I would not want to take my ear plugs out as I wanted to know what was going to happen next.
Any additional comments?
I love watching The Walking Dead on TV and it is hugely popular in our home, it is a great show that Australian's have fallen in love with, but I think Zombie Fallout has a better storyline. Mark brings more to the story then just mind numbing flesh eating Zombies, he brings, well I guess you are going to have to buy the book to see what else he brings to a Zombie story which makes it head and shoulders superior to the rest. I have started to get more into Zombie books after this series, but Mark has a knack of bringing humour, sarcasm, love, family, camaraderie, fear, hopelessness, hope and many more things to his book that I don't think others do.

A mystery that keeps you riveted till the end .
Revisado: 12-05-11
What made the experience of listening to Doctor Who: The Way through the Woods the most enjoyable?
Meera Syal is another of my favourite DW narrator's, she is great. I have been really impressed with the female narrators of the DW audio books. I think every female narrator I have listened to that reads DW audio is able to read the male characters more naturally then a lot of male narrators. I have also been impressed with the great accents some of them are able to give each of the characters again so effortlessly.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Doctor Who: The Way through the Woods?
I enjoyed the beginning with Rory when he goes back in time to meet Emily Bostock and their trip into the woods despite Rory's best endeavours to keep them clear of the woods Emily soon wrecks that well planned intention. I found it good to see a strong female character of that era portrayed and could see Emily in her time being a companion as she has no fear and is quite calm and brave.
She also had strong views on supporting conscientious objectors in the war and was willing to stand up to the older men in the village to defend Rory who the locals give a hard time by giving him a white feather which Rory did not really understand the purpose of at first. As we near the end of the story this was obviously another touching and memorable moment as we arrive closer to finding out what the mystery of the woods is. Your heart strings are pulled and you feel anger, sadness and happiness in the end, even though some people can never go back to their lives but make a decision to make the most of their lot and prepare to explore the unknown.
Which scene was your favorite?
I think all of the above were favourites scenarios of mine.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes I was eager to keep reading not wanting to stop at all because I was consumed with curiosity to see what was going to happen next.
Any additional comments?
Not really just that I loved the book and would recommend it to anyone to read even if you don't normally read Doctor Who but like a little mystery and suspense then you will enjoy this book.

Not really my style and storyline.
Revisado: 12-05-11
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would not
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I was not really involved in the outcome as I struggled to maintain much interest in the storyline. It may be because I hate any war type story where armed forces are involved especially as I feel counties would utilise this kind of science for gain and world domination which could end in catastrophic results. It is kind of how one feels toward the scientist's that discovered the atom bomb.
What does Nicholas Briggs bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Nicholas Briggs was a good narrator and it was through no fault of his that the story did not really engage me. It is very rare that I have not really loved a DW audio book.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Of course I would see the movie if this book was turned into a DW movie, things change when you start casting actor's, actress's in the roles and you identify with them and of course you hopefully have your regular beloved cast members of DW. There is no way in the world I would ever say
Any additional comments?
Don't be turned off by my review read the book for yourself because as I mentioned there could be a number of reasons for feeling the way I did about the book, it could be as simple as my mood on the day. Everyone is entitled to have a different view of the book so jump in and do your review so you can have your chance to tell our community of DW readers and Audible your own take on the book.

Long Time Dead brings back an old Torchwood Member
Revisado: 12-05-11
Would you consider the audio edition of Torchwood: Long Time Dead to be better than the print version?
I have not read the printed version but I could not be any happier with the audio version and think Indira Varma is one of the best narrators I have ever listened to.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed getting to know more about the character of Suzie Costello who I felt was a truly a psychotic personality but the story was able to let you see a softer side to her so that in the end you did feel sad that she could not relive her life and change the decisions she had made in the past.
Which scene was your favorite?
I think it was DCI Tom Cutler and his courageous decision to do the right thing despite the cost to himself.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The reality that Torchwood was destroyed and the Torchwood Team were no longer operating in Cardiff and were on the run with most of our favourite members dead. I was also touched by the books conclusion.
Any additional comments?
Even though Torchwood has gone and our beloved TW team is no longer around in the present timeline this story was still captivating and interesting giving a glimpse into the history of Torchwood and how one of their members went so completely bad and operated without the team suspecting anything for a long time.
