Historia
In this quirky deep dive, Outside Magazine columnist Brendan Leonard explores humans’ weird proclivity for endurance, and how we express it—including, but not limited to distance running, factory work, benign masochism, improv comedy, and rooting for the Buffalo Bills.

the answer for "What is ultra running?"
Revisado: 11-06-24
I thoroughly enjoyed this book—in fact, I bought both the print and audiobook versions. It’s one of my favorite books about running. While I'm not quite inspired to get barefoot shoes and embrace an indigenous lifestyle, the book is incredibly entertaining and relatable. I don’t think another book captures the ultra-running experience quite as well. Like you, I’m just another worker rat chasing a Fruit Loop.

Historia
Cameron Hanes discovered his true passion for bowhunting when he was twenty. Inspired by the physical challenges of stalking elk in the Oregon wilderness—traversing mountainous terrain, braving erratic weather, and evading his quarry’s even more dangerous predators—he began an ever-evolving journey of self-improvement. To become the best bowhunter of wild elk, to the caliber he believed he could be, Cam realized he would need more than archery skills.

I don't even hunt and I loved this book!
Revisado: 03-06-24
I really enjoyed this story and the emotion conveyed by the author. The book is centered on the value of showing up and putting in work, it will motivate you. I also appreciated a hunter explaining what hunting means in a way that a non hunter like myself can get. This book is absolutely worth your time and money.

Historia
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

Historia
It was 23 months after his accident, and Peter was still dealing with constant excruciating pain. He'd seen dozens of doctors and tried a myriad of medications, but nothing seemed to work. Faced with the impossible choice of suffering through the rest of his life, he had an unlikely epiphany, "If I could somehow hike 2,000 miles on the Appalachian Trail, then my leg will have to be better." He set a starting date three weeks out, cobbled together a novice's pack, and set off on a journey destined to change his life forever—though not exactly how he had envisioned it.

I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end. Every person's journey on the AT is different and Peter brings some interesting perspectives and experiences. I didn't love the performance at first, but I think it was important for Peter to tell his own story.

Historia
Like a well-crafted stage play, Just Passin' Thru delivers one suspenseful scene after another. But in this historic setting a store on the Appalachian Trail called Mountain Crossings the characters who show up are no fictional creations. Like any good drama, there are the good guys (and gals) and the weirdos, too. Some show up once (and that’s enough), and some appear again and again. But all are united by two things: the author’s story-capturing talent, and whatever it is that lures them to attempt (or conquer) a 2,200-mile path that climbs and plummets from Georgia to Maine.

the story took me a few minutes to get into, but I'm really happy I hung in there! it's fun to hear about life operating a business on the trail and the cast of characters that move along the Green Tunnel.
