Historia
Tom Jones is a splendid Hogarthian panorama of 18th century English life and morals, encompassing both city and country, and comprising some of the greatest comic characters in British literature. First published in 1749, it was an instant success and has gone on to become a classic of its genre. Quite simply, there has never been anything like it.

Holy cow
Revisado: 06-04-16
A long winded, side winding, 18'th century pompous tale of Tom Jones who's biggest fault is that he is a young man who likes having sex. And Oh yeah,... he likes this girl named Sophie. It was good but really long with many asides and long side stories. A great portrait of 18'th century England, the writer tells the story as a narrator, as an author that is speaking to the reader at times, as a teacher, as a defensive writer. Took me a while to muscle through this one.

Historia
The body of Polynices, Antigone's brother, has been ordered to remain unburied by Creon, the new king of Thebes. Antigone defies the law, sealing her fate. Originally produced in Paris during the Nazi occupation, Anouilh's Antigone was seen by the French as theatre resistance and by Germans as an affirmation of authority.

Historia
Leonardo da Vinci stood on a bridge between medieval thought and the modern mind. In this selection of entries from his dozens of coded notebooks and unpublished manuscripts, his unending curiosity in the universe and deep knowledge come through in his energetic style. The self-educated da Vinci developed a philosophical system that set him apart from his contemporaries and marked him as the oracle of a new age, and his vivid imagination and straightforward writing style capture the listener’s attention whether he is writing about his scientific analysis, his opinion of necromancy, discoveries in nature, or the nature of man.

In plain english.......
It lines up the science and reasoning behind why we don't want certain things in our foods, how to help body functions and the all important roll of our Micro Biome (I had no idea what the hell this was before this book.....) So glad I read. I feel like a lot of the things we've been told are bad have been explained.

This landmark production, perhaps the most ambitious radio project ever attempted, began when Star Wars creator George Lucas donated the story rights to an NPR affiliate. Writer Brian Daley adapted the film's highly visual script to the special demands and unique possibilities of radio, creating a more richly textured tale with greater emphasis on character development.

Not as expected, Just watch the movie instead.
Revisado: 02-10-15
After reading the first three by R.A. Salvatore, Terry Brooks and Matthew Stover, I was expecting more of a book, not what it was. This was a radio show. After every chapter, there are credits, complete with symphony. Then the new chapter has the same with a recap of what you just listened to. All in all I'm fast forwarding about 4 minutes per chapter to get to the next part. The reading was like a play and hard to understand sometimes. It's basically a voice dramatization of the movie and not very different, where as the books noted above are more like a novel with character development and the author painting the scene, etc. I'd pass on this and just watch the movie.

Historia
George R. R. Martin's New York Times best-selling epic fantasy book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, and the HBO television show adapted from it, have earned critical acclaim and inspired fanatic devotion. This book delves into the many philosophical questions that arise in this complex, character-driven series, including: Is it right for a "good" king to usurp the throne of a "bad" one and murder his family? How far should you go to protect your family and its secrets? In a fantasy universe with medieval mores and ethics, can female characters reflect modern feminist ideals?

Great book on Philosophy
Revisado: 02-10-15
If you like Philosophy and you've read all the game of thrones books, this is a great book for you. It's philosophy, explained with characters of Game of Thrones. The author takes philosophers from history and explains their principles through the characters and happenings of GOT. Brilliant. I have a deeper understanding of some of the philosophers studies and a better understanding of GOT and George RR Martin after reading this.

The publication of a new translation by Fagles is a literary event. His translations of both the Iliad and Odyssey have sold hundreds of thousands of copies and have become the standard translations of our era. Now, with this stunning modern verse translation, Fagles has reintroduced Virgil's Aeneid to a whole new generation, and completed the classical triptych at the heart of Western civilization.

Virgil is a master of what he did

.... and that was to make Augustus look good to the Romans.
Great book, the reader dropped his voice low sometimes making it hard to understand. It was a great epic, completes the story of the Trojan war and the founding of Rome. Not as interesting as the Illiad as he had an agenda to glorify Rome instead of a tale to entertain but I'm sure the Romans of the Agustus Era enjoyed it.
