Historia
Safely hidden within the estate's enchanted walls, Benella no longer has time to fear her tormentors. She's too preoccupied attempting to determine what makes the beast so beastly. It might be the taxing visits from the aged enchantress who cursed him or his growing vexation at not being allowed to touch Benella.

I've loved this series ever since I first picked up. I wish I could read it brand new all over again. The growth of the characters is so astounding, I cannot say enough how amazing it is. TRIGGER Warning, attempted rape and abuse within these pages. Sierra does such an amazing job narrating.

I was gifted as a slave-bride to an alien giant. That's the start of my day. At least I have my guide dog, Kota, with me. I'd be lost without her...literally. Yes. I'm blind. And our new alien owner is kind enough that he's not holding me to the wife or slave deal even though that's what I was intended for. We've basically been dropped into a scene from Little House on the Alien Prairie, complete with his one-room cabin, and he's been the perfect gentleman. He's pretty great, and I'm actually starting to wish I could take him home with me.

Love the Story
Revisado: 06-09-21
Love this book! The entire thing is wholesome and loving with a HEA, the sweetest hero, and a strong heroine with a personal sidekick. the characters are spectacular, and the narrators are both great.
I've made note before on several audios, I don't usually care for multiple narrators. When you have several voices rendering different perspectives, you have two completely different ideas on personality and the delivery of conversation. This one, I truly wish I could get my money back and just buy the paperback instead. Do I absolutely hate it? not at all. I still love the book, and this was not time wasted. I'll know for sure not to buy books with more than one narrator from now on. It does not take away from the book. It's personal preference.

Historia
In this Audible Exclusive production, Academy Award® nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) narrates one of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Sense and Sensibility. In this timeless tale of misguided romance and heartbreak, two teenage heroines must overcome the pitfalls of Georgian England’s high society in order to achieve the love and happiness they seek. The admiration that Pike has for Austen’s work is shown clearly through this passionate delivery of Austen’s first published novel.

Well executed
Revisado: 05-24-21
My first time reading/listening to this book, I feel like had Intried reading it, I would have given up before reaching the half of it. At first, I was unaware of which point of view the story was written for as it is written in third person, and the misfortunes of the sisters made me feel like perhaps I was just reading a contemporary (for the time) meant to simply waste time. Its complexity became more and more profound the further the plot advanced, and I did not like how the ending came through. Ms. Pike did a spectacular job, however, and fully recommend this version if the reader is inclined to listen.

Historia
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

A format to see the characters come to life.
Revisado: 05-18-21
Rosamund Pike paints a pleasant picture of the story, the characters, and the plot. The only voice I did not like was the voice of Mrs. Bennett, though I feel the petulant air was very much on purpose.
The lovers of Harley Quinn and Joker, Romeo and Juliet, and those other tragic tails of obsession and insanity, you can keep it. I enjoy the wholesome love and devotion if Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy.

Gather round close, for I have a secret to tell. Late at night, while everyone is sleeping, dreaming of white knights and fairytales. I'm making friends with the monsters. They call to me, like finds like, right? My biggest secret, I'm the scariest monster I know. I think I'm the bad guy.

Story is Great!
Revisado: 03-28-21
But to me, audio doesn't suit the book. It reads more like a journal with the 4th wall breaks and such, and it really throws me out of the story. I've also never really been a fan of dual narrations with a man playing the male parts and woman playing the female parts. The two usually are not in sync to the flow and tone. Overall, it's okay, but I wish I hadn't gotten it.

Historia
Since his return from war, the Duke of Ashbury's to-do list has been short and anything but sweet: brooding, glowering, menacing London ne'er-do-wells by night. Now there's a new item on the list. He needs an heir - which means he needs a wife. When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress, appears in his library wearing a wedding gown, he decides on the spot that she'll do.

Well Done
Revisado: 02-15-21
A seamstress wearing a gaudy wedding dress demands pay for the work put into a dress that will never be worn. A broken engagement puts a disfigured Duke in dire straights to produce an heir, but he needs a woman who is born of good heritage and desperate, and so we have a well developed partly Cinderella/Beauty and the Beast novel.
Tessa wrote a spectacular romance that is written well, and Mary Jane Wells executed perfectly! I am thoroughly impressed by the narration. Tessa Dare is a brilliant author. The second book I've had the pleasure of being entertained with, I am now officially a fan, and I have even looked for books narrated by Mary Jane Wells to follow as well. Brilliant is an understatement.

Short and sweet
Revisado: 02-07-21
It's a good little Beauty and the Beast retelling in regency historical romance. Being a short read, we get a very quick relationship that is fancifully written with complete smoothness, and no major drama that one would expect for the situation. The end was okay, but it could have been more developed. As is, it was wrapped up in a hastily published fashion. The "reason" for his self isolation just didn't add up after his unwillingness to show his face and his stewing over his lost fiance.

There was no doubt about it. What Miss Harriet Pomeroy needed was a man. But when Harriet summoned Gideon Westbrook Viscount St. Justin to her aid, she could not know that she was summoning the devil himself.

Great Historical Romance
Revisado: 02-03-21
An unloved hero, shunned from society by their own skewed perception of the past. A quaint heroine who is able to see him for what he is despite the cold shell he wrapped himself into. Indo so enjoy a good wholesome romance. my only complaint is Anne, the narrator, will read a dialogue and her voice can't seem to differentiate between St. Justin's voice and hers. Anne will come out of a dialogue and read the rest of the passage in the same gruff voice, and it was a bit bothersome, but not a deal breaker. She played Harriet's voice well.

Some secrets are meant to be broken - the rewards outweighing the consequences. Some, however, bring about a change unlike any ever imagined. The Mating Games challenged me; not only physically, but mentally, and the emotional toll it wreaked was the hardest part. Yet, I was starting to realize that the worst...and best...was yet to come.

LOVE this series!
Revisado: 02-01-21
One of my top favorites, I had to own every form. I now have the series in ebook, paperback, and Audio (minus the final audio which isn't out yet). I'm not saying this to brag that I own all forms but as a testament to how much I love the series.
Stephanie Rose is a perfect voice for the series. she does so swell, I wish Helen and Ellabee did not have two narrators, just because the two are different in reading male and female parts.
Tristan isn't a bad narrator, however his voice gives John Wayne vibes, and when he reads Cal's voice, it's like he's channeling Jim Dale's Hermoine impression. it just rubbed me the wrong way. Like I said, it's not bad, just... neh.

When my best friend and the only person who knows who - and what - I really am gets selected for the Mating Games, I know the only way to save her is to try and win her for myself. All I need to do is navigate three trials while not letting anyone know I'm a woman, or, and this might be even more important, that I have magic. Easy, right? Easier than slaving away for all hours of the day swinging an ax in the mines. Or so I thought. I certainly didn't count on the one man I've longed for, the one man who stirs feelings of femininity and desire within me, to enter the games as well.
