Historia
The Divinity School Address was delivered by Emerson to the graduating class of Harvard Divinity School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on July 15, 1838. At the time, the Harvard community was strongly Unitarian, and Emerson's argument for a more transcendental view of God and faith was seen as radical, and touched off a great controversy.

Horrible voice
Revisado: 11-01-24
It’s such a pity. The content of Emerson’s essay is absolutely gorgeous. But the reader sounds like he has his cheeks full of hard candy and saliva. Every S sound is so over slurred and accentuated that I find him to be unlistenable. Second book I’ve tried that was read by him and I just can’t. I don’t understand how he gets the job.

Not a Tolkien story- bad narration
Revisado: 12-09-21
Just in case you miss it, this is NOT a story by Tolkien. It is a translation BY Tolkien of an old poem… ok fine. I’m still curious-
But the narrator… oof. A British accent is fitting. But this guy has that British speech impediment (accent?) where he can’t pronounce “R” properly. So it Weally sounds wWong, even if it is a nice stoWy I just can’t listen to his Weading. I’ve always found that speech impediment to be extWeamly iWWitating”

The number one New York Times best seller by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian David McCullough rediscovers an important chapter in the American story that's "as resonant today as ever" (The Wall Street Journal) - the settling of the Northwest Territory by courageous pioneers who overcame incredible hardships to build a community based on ideals that would define our country.

Horrible reader, in doubt I'll be able to get through it
Revisado: 01-08-20
Whoever read this sounds like his mouth is full of saliva and EVERY time he makes the "S" sound it's a slurred and over pronounces sloshing slathering hiss. VERY annoying.
Seems like a good story but the voice is unbearable.

Historia
Alan W. Watts' "message for an age of anxiety" is as powerful today as it was when this modern classic was first published. We spend too much time trying to anticipate and plan for the future, too much time lamenting the past. We often miss the pleasures of the moment in our anxious efforts to ensure the next moment is as enjoyable. Drawing from Eastern philosophy and religion, Watts argues that it is only by acknowledging what we do not and cannot know that we can find something truly worth knowing.

The material is Alan watts...so it's great, but whoever readers sounds like he's got a piece of candy and too much saliva in his mouth and every "S" sound is an irritating slurpy hiss.

Very disappointing
Revisado: 05-12-17
The first book was read by George Guidall, who was OUTSTANDING. Enjoyed it thoroughly, and was eager to continue the series. Sadly the guy who reads this volume is, for me, almost unlistenable. He's SOOO cheesy, sounds like 20 hours of a michael Bay movie trailer narration. I don't know if I'll even finish, it's so bad, and very doubtful I'll buy the remaining books because he reads them. Waste of my $20

Historia
In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

Historia
Dante's Divine Comedy is considered to be not only the most important epic poem in Italian literature, but also one of the greatest poems ever written. It consists of 100 cantos, and (after an introductory canto) they are divided into three sections. Each section is 33 cantos in length, and they describe how Dante and a guide travel through Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso.

Unbearably dull
Revisado: 11-10-16
Before the story even begins, the reader goes over every chapter in plain English to tell you what happens because once he actually starts reading the book you won't be able to tell what is going on. The language of this classic is so biblical that it's exhaustingly difficult to follow. Add to that how incredibly boring the story is. It just doesn't capture my attention, and just became white noise blah blah blah. I'd say if you just want to read this book because of its reputation, then READ it... As an audio book it was a complete waste of money.

Historia
The great adventure story tells of Odysseus, a veteran of the Trojan War, who - through a landscape peopled with monsters, sea nymphs, evil enchantresses, and vengeful gods - makes his tortuous way home to his faithful wife, Penelope. Shipwrecked numerous times, faced with apparently insurmountable obstacles, offered the temptations of ease, comfort, and even immortality, Odysseus remains steadfast and determined. Themes of courage and perseverance, fidelity and fortitude.

Shameful audio quality
Revisado: 05-10-16
Each chapter is at a different volume, so that some can barely be heard, while other chapters are slowed down and ian sounds like Darth Vader.... Then there's the screechy annoying "music" between "chapters" ( actually about half the time it just pops up in the middle of a chapter) that is so piercing and harsh that it'll make you rip your headphones off in a hurry. I'd really like a refund.
